A mother lost her life after her vehicle plunged off a steep mountain road while she was rushing home to her sick child. The crash occurred on the treacherous Doi Kao Chan pass in Den Chai district, Phrae province.

 

Emergency responders from the Denchai Ruam Boon Rescue Foundation received a distress call at around 20:00 on 6 March. They arrived at the scene in Ban Nam Phrao, Sai Yoi subdistrict, where they discovered a pickup truck had fallen more than 20 metres down a ravine.

 

The driver, identified as Ms. Korwipha, a resident of Sung Men district, Phrae, was found in critical condition. Rescuers performed CPR before rushing her to Somdet Phra Yupparat Den Chai Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

 

According to relatives, Ms. Korwipha had been driving from Sukhothai province, hurrying back home after learning that her child was unwell. The crash happened on a particularly dark and steep section of the mountainous road, though the exact cause remains unclear.

 

Police from Den Chai Police Station have launched an investigation, with officers set to inspect the scene to determine whether road conditions, vehicle failure, or other factors contributed to the crash.
