Fair point about the real fraudsters but if you are paying your taxes in the UK why shouldn't you be entitled to NHS treatment and pension increases?  With the upcoming changes to non-dom status, this will get even more complicated.

Because its illegal and therefore fraud.

The state pension is a benefit. Any pensioner has every right to move to Thailand and receive the benefit. They are not parasites.

Not the annual state pension upgrade and not free access to the NHS if they are Thailand residents. That's fraud

Are you Keir Starmer the granny harmer??

The problem with the UK is mass immigration from the third world.

Not some old fella on a pension. Put The Daily Telegraph down.

Are you really one of the many benefit fraudsters from the UK claiming to be a UK resident whilst living off UK state benefits illegally in Thailand? Really?

I wonder how many sphincters here on AN  tightened up reading this from the Mirror:

The UK Government website says a British citizen may still be able to claim some benefits even if they travel or move abroad, or even if they already live abroad. But there there are several instances where it is classified as fraud if you have benefits paid to you while abroad, which can include.

  • Not telling office that pays your benefit you’re going abroad, even if it’s just for a visit
  • Deliberately not reporting a change in your circumstances while abroad, like buying a property, working, or claiming a pension or benefit from another country
  • Being dishonest in order to get benefits, like continuing to claim the pension or benefit of someone who has died overseas

Brit mum notorious for TikToks on claiming benefits living abroad 'locked up in Thailand' - World News - Mirror Online

Why would the UK govt fund anyone living outside the UK?

This should be banned. It's far too generous. If you leave the UK and go live abroad, pensions should be banned. Go get money from the government from the country you moved to - tough luck if they aren't so generous.

I have an uncle who lives in Canada, never been back to the UK for 20 years. Collects a pension, comes back to the UK for free health care, optician and dentist appointments. Then get's free hearing aid batteries (worth thousands). Before flying back.

Utterly disgusting the sheer waste the UK government does.

There are rules against this. You have to prove that you are returning permanently to get NHS assistance. If your uncle is gaming the system then he shouldn't be.

State Pension is based on contributions. If you have made sufficient contributions you are entitled to claim the pension regardless of your geographical whereabouts. That's the system. This benefit, entitlement, whatever you want to call it is based on how much you have contributed. It is not free. The pension only starts if you have contributed 10 years and is then pro rata.

Impressive, since the right to benefits ceases when you leave the Country.

I know none on benefits.

Either they're lying or you are.

The right to a pension isn't dependent on where you live,  although annual increases are. I think most other benefits stop if you leave the UK, although I haven't checked them all.

Many Brits i meet who live in Thailand, are on some sort of benefits from the generous UK, more so after Covid. Absolute parasites. Then they pontificate on muslims..

Awful.

"Absolute parasites. Then they pontificate on muslims.."

Do you mean the Parasites that enter the UK Illegally every single day on Dinghy's!
Or the "Parasites" that are already there infesting the city's and towns, living off the benefits that hard working English Pensioners who have already have already paid into the system over many years, and are therefore eligable to claim what is rightfully theirs to claim!

Unike some of the resident scum taking advantage of an overly generouse wealfare system that is seriously faulty and needs scrapping!

Pensioners are hard working ?

At least quote all that was said "hard working English Pensioners who have already have already paid into the system over many years". They were hard working when they paid the contributions. 54 years I contributed and it is so reassuring that now it is pay back time some people think I am and other pensioners are bone idle scum. There was post complaining about the poor hard up parents who send their kids to private schools having to pay 20% VAT and then there are those that think pensioners who leave the country should get **** all. What a sh**e hole the UK  has become.

How ? Does no one check in the UK ?  One arm of Government knows you left the country, via your passport.   Here in Australia they stop it.

In the UK they are afraid of automatic cross checking between arms of govt like the pensions and immigration. That's why they are pussyfooting about ID cards. It's all about supposed freedoms. I declared my non residency before I left the UK 20 years ago but if you don't declare it then residency stays on the books and fraudsters can take advantage if that as many do as long as they have a fake home address in the UK and a UK bank account.

It's illegal immigrants costing billions a year to look after comrade Starmer needs to clamp down on, not a few oldies avoiding pension discrimination that they paid into their whole working lives.

You sound like one of the benefit fraudsters.

Typical low-class British scrounger. Too lazy to work, too lazy to look after her numerous brats, (different fathers)? Fraudulently cheating the UK government and ugly to boot!

I can't stand the present British government, but I do support the current plan to weed out the tens of thousand, similar spongers claiming benefits in the UK, like this female toad.

Particularly as I still pay UK tax - which is then squandered on these grifters..... totalling some 26 billion GBP - and rising.

The problem is that the UK government is doing the same, from the odious Starmer, most of his cabinet and, according to the UK news, the Parliament Speaker , 'Long-Haul Hoyle' - spending vast sums of taxpayers money on luxury trips abroad and goods to pay for their extravagant lifestyles.

A spell in a Thai jail wouldn't harm any of them.

It's good to let off steam on a peaceful Sunday morning here it exotic Thailand...... and the coffee tastes exceptionally good this morning, as well!

Now for a spot of gardening.

How did she fund that awful cosmetic surgery?

                        Entirely without prejudice

By thieving from honest British taxpayers.

I hope she gets everything she deserves and more besides.

Keep her in a Thai prison for as long as possible because British prisons are holiday camps

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE FUNDS TO PEOPLE LIKE THAT

Maybe you should ask the Poles, they came to the UK worked for one year got tax credits went back to Poland and the tax credits continue to be paid monthly

On the other hand, the poor in the UK are left to themselves, the retirees in the UK are seeing their pensions dwindling, going through all kinds of hassles if they go abroad whilst the government is fueling WW3 in funding Ukraine and spending billions in money and arms sent over to Kiev. Not saying this is good or bad.

But when governance spends more abroad mainly on political and ideological basis and neglects it's own, people will naturally try to get their change back.
