This construction project is nothing short of an Abomination, and a boil on the face of the nation. The company that is managing this project should be terminated and the chief executives should be jailed or worse.

How far behind is this project, a decade or more? And they're still at kilometer 36. How far do they have to go, 15 years, 25 years?

Just go ahead and hire a Chinese company, and the project will be finished in two years, suck up the debt and then default, no big deal. Just like every other nation on the Belt and Road initiative.

Isn't this the same company owned by the state park panther eater?

We live off Rama2. In fact construction work similar to the accident site here is going on in front of  our village. When will it happen in our area is what the locals are saying. At least you’ll have your AN reporter on site when it happens.

Really?

Police General Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, is scheduled to visit the site later today to assess the situation and oversee the investigation.  I wasn't sure if my memory was deceiving me, so I checked, and it wasn't. In the very next article about foreign prostitutes in Soi Nana, who is leading the investigation? Police General Siam Boonsom! Obviously amn expert in lots of things.

Good or selective memory.

A section of an elevated expressway under construction on Rama II Road collapsed

For reference:

This construction is part of  Rama III – Dao Khanong – Western Bangkok Outer Ring Road project. The third contract was awarded to ITD-VCB Joint Venture, consisting of Italian-Thai Development Pcl and Vichitbhan Construction Co. Ltd., with other contractors including Asian Engineering Consultants Co. Lt, Chotijinda Consultants Co. Ltd. and MAA Consultants Co. Ltd.

I see Ital-Thai are involved - very good at wild game hunting but not so good at building bridges!!

RIP to those who lost their lives, also sincere condolences to their families.

Something strange - I can copy and paste the above reference into my post, but when I click "save", entry to the reference is blocked

This incident marks yet another construction-related accident on Rama II Road, a major highway notorious for infrastructure collapses in recent years.

No lessons learnt then..

It is not the first accident that happens here and will not be the last. Safety for the workers and the traffic is far from safe, and now they have to rush to finish the project.. Sad that lives are lost, people get injured and maybe never able to work anymore, and nobody will be held responsible for it..Thailand....

One of the main reasons I have avoided driving and traveling from BKK to Huahin over the last few years. Stay safe everyone.

Myanmar Worker Confirmed as 6th Death in Rama II Highway Construction Collapse

image.jpeg

Picture from responders.

A Myanmar woman searching for her missing relative, a construction worker involved in the elevated expressway project along Rama II Road, has received confirmation of his death. The incident, which occurred when a steel structure collapsed, has now claimed six lives.

Ms. Phyu, a 37-year-old Myanmar national, visited the incident site, where the steel framework of the Expressway collapsed, hoping to locate her missing cousin, Mr. Tai Hui Yang, 22. She had searched hospitals and emergency lists without success before authorities confirmed that he was among the 27 injured workers. He had been transferred to Taksin Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on the morning of 16 March, becoming the sixth fatality of the disaster.

Meanwhile, the family of a deceased engineer also visited the site to perform a ritual for his spirit before claiming his body later in the day.

The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) has reported that over 40% of the wreckage has been cleared. Authorities aim to reopen the affected section of the road within seven days. Investigations into the cause of the collapse continue.
