A bus driver in Bangkok has been fined 2,000 baht following an incident where a blind passenger and their guide fell from a bus while attempting to board through the rear door. The event, which took place on March 15, was captured in a video circulated on social media, drawing public attention and criticism.

The mishap occurred on route 82, operated by a bus running between Phra Pradaeng and Bang Lamphu, around 9 am at the bus stop in front of Big C Bang Pakok. The driver, identified as Wirat, reportedly focused on the traffic to the right and failed to see the passengers boarding.

Upon hearing a commotion as the bus moved a few metres from the stop, Wirat stopped immediately. Although he offered medical assistance to the passengers, they declined and proceeded to board the bus, continuing to their destination.

The Department of Land Transport, following their investigation, attributed the incident to negligent driving under the Land Transport Act of 1979. Wirat received a 2,000 baht fine for reckless driving, a 30-day suspension of his driver's licence, and was required to attend a three-hour safety training session aimed at enhancing public transport service awareness.

The department also issued a stern warning to Wirat, emphasising that further infractions could lead to the revocation of his driving licence. This incident underscores the critical importance of attentive driving and passenger safety in public transport operations, reported The Thaiger.

That'll solve it

Install CCTV to cover all entrance/exit doors with monitors in the driver's vision.

Great, a traffic law finally being enforced.  I bet he'll be more careful next time, positive news.

Next, on to the thousands of other traffic law violations per hour.  A few more folks might live a bit longer if this great example is followed everywhere else, 100% of the time.
