No. You should go to Phuket or Krabi. Plenty to choose there.

I think you need to be more specific. Are you looking for an English language curriculum? Native-speaking teachers?

Looking for a private school that has classes that offer English curriculum ideally with western teachers. Our daughter goes to a private school which has thai teachers and curriculum plus English classes (Western qualified teachers), a very good school. Am looking at what options there are in Songkhla or Hat Yai as we were there recently and impressed with the provence.

As mention, we are asking about Songkhla or Hat Yai, not interested in Krabi or Phuket, yet thank you for your input

Yes, but up in Ranode District. I have lived in both HY and Songkhla Town before, though.

We were in Songkhla recently on holiday, loved the city being right on the beach, old town was great, food excellent. Hat Yai we liked as well, good markets, shops, food. Wife would like to move there to live, but a holiday is very differant from living there. We are in Chumphon which is nice and relaxed but lacks good shopping.

There's quite a difference between Hat Yai and Songkhla Town, that's for sure. I like the beach and sea breeze in Songkhla Town, better. Both are a nightmare for driving, though.

We've been twenty years in Hat Yai, it's a very functional city, probably not the prettiest. and it's a bit short on history, being only as old as the railway, but we like it.
