Thai Deputy PM Praises General Prayut's Role on Birthday
Celebrating General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s birthday on 21st March, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, took to social media to laud the prominent former Prime Minister. Known affectionately as "Uncle Tu," General Prayut recently transitioned from his political career to serve as a Privy Councilor, an honorary position with the monarch’s advisory body. Mr. Pirapan, expressing admiration, posted a heartfelt tribute on his personal Facebook account, alongside a photo of himself with General Prayut. He extolled Prayut’s enduring influence on his political journey, underscoring the deep respect and camaraderie shared between them. Pirapan's post celebrated Prayut's long-standing commitment to Thailand, illuminating the admiration he holds for Prayut's dedication to the nation. "Although I have only worked closely with him for a while, I can clearly sense 'Uncle Tu''s intense love for the nation," Pirapan noted, portraying Prayut as both strong and gentle. He emphasised Prayut's compassion and his unyielding focus on the country's welfare. For over 30 years, Pirapan acknowledged Prayut as a political beacon, inspiring him through his devoted service to Thailand’s fundamental institutions. This public expression of respect comes amidst the evolving political landscape in Thailand. General Prayut, having led the government through pivotal moments, remains a symbolic figure representing stability and continuity. His influence has permeated various aspects of governance and national security, a legacy Pirapan highlights with immense appreciation. Furthermore, Pirapan’s message serves as a reminder of the traditional values intrinsic to Thai politics. His invocation of the Triple Gem and the royal power of historical Thai monarchs reflects a culturally ingrained practice of seeking divine support for national leaders. This reverence showcases a penchant for blending politics with spirituality, underlining the cultural framework within which Thai politics operates. Pirapan concluded his tribute with best wishes for Prayut’s continued health and happiness. Expressing his desire for Prayut to remain a source of inspiration for the Thai people, Pirapan’s remarks echo the sentiments of many who view the general as a venerable anchor for Thailand’s socio-political structures. In a nation where the political sphere often seems tempestuous, the birthday greeting from Pirapan not only honours General Prayut but also subtly reinforces the aspiration for enduring unity and progress within Thailand. As the country moves forward, figures like Prayut will likely continue to be called upon for their guidance and experience, underlying the respect held for seasoned leaders, reported Siam Rath. -- 2025-03-22 -

Tourist Attacked by Transgender on Pattaya Beach Road: Calls for Increased Security
Picture courtesy of SiamChon. An incident of violence erupted in the early hours of March 22 near the entrance to Pattaya’s Walking Street. A foreign national was assaulted by a transgender in full view of passersby, with the attack being caught on video by onlookers. The footage shows a tall transgender woman dressed in a cream-coloured outfit and high heels aggressively confronting a foreign male tourist, estimated to be 50 years old. The man, dressed in a black t-shirt and cream trousers and carrying shopping bags, was subjected to verbal abuse before the assailant escalated to physical violence. Eyewitnesses described how the attacker lost control, launching a flying kick at the tourist before chasing him and striking him repeatedly with a high-heeled shoe. The victim, who tried to walk away, was relentlessly pursued and beaten on the head and body. Despite a crowd of tourists and locals witnessing the attack, no one intervened, possibly out of fear or because the attacker was known in the area. Eventually, the assailant walked away as if nothing had happened. One witness reported that the incident began on the footpath near Soi 13/4, where the transgender individual had been following and hurling insults at the tourist. The altercation escalated near a beachfront massage parlour, where heated words turned into physical assault, culminating in the victim sustaining a head injury. Locals claim that such violent incidents and petty crimes frequently occur in the area, often involving groups of transgender individuals engaged in prostitution. According to one observer, conflicts sometimes arise when tourists, upon realising they are being approached by transgender individuals, try to disengage. Some attackers reportedly fabricate accusations of harassment to extort money from their targets. The same individual involved in this latest assault is believed to be part of a group linked to a similar attack on another tourist on March 17. Residents and business owners in the area have urged authorities to increase security patrols to prevent further violence and clamp down on illegal activities. As for the injured tourist, there has been no official report of a police complaint being filed. It is understood that he sought assistance from Pattaya’s Special Affairs Division before possibly seeking medical attention for his head injury. Authorities expect that he may file a formal complaint at a later stage. -- 2025-03-22 -

Teslas torched with Molotov cocktails and shot with gun
Tesla is a peaceful company, he says. He's never done anything awful, he says. There is some kind of mental illness thing going on, he says. It doesn't make any sense, he says. “Well, let me see if I can explain it for you,” Kimmel fired back at Musk. “When you pull out a chainsaw to celebrate firing thousands of people, they get mad. My god. I mean, this poor guy. You do one, maybe two Nazi salutes, everybody gets all bent out of shape!” MAGA is so f'n clueless how REAL AMERICANS feel about Musk. 😄 -

Acting Social Security head threatens to shut down agency
"Acting Social Security commissioner Leland Dudek said Friday that he is consulting with agency lawyers and the Justice Department as he threatens to shut down the agency in response to a court ruling blocking Elon Musk’s team from accessing sensitive taxpayer data." and "Everything in this agency is PII,” Dudek said. “Unless I get clarification, I’ll just start to shut it down. I don’t have much of a choice here. Dudek first made his threat to close down the agency during a Bloomberg News interview Thursday night. Such a dramatic move would be unprecedented in the agency’s history and would immediately begin halting benefit payments for millions of Americans." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/ar-AA1Bpp38 -
