Not saying it was justified, only that it was avoidable, and a result of poor judgement by the farang.

Some people can find a beating wherever they go.

And only too many locals willing to oblige...

How have you managed to survive here for 30 years? According to your own posts, you should have been murdered by now—or at the very least, severely assaulted. What level of hypocrisy does it take to hate a place while choosing to live in it for three decades?

Don't hate anything.

I just speak as it is, warts and all as opposed to some of you that prefer to describe it as some Valhalla  which it isn't

I don't walk around in a trance saying how wonderful everything is.

Either you know nothing about NZ or are being silly. NZ is very violent and I do not feel safe anywhere. Country is over run by gangs.

You are talking specific problem areas, you certainly are not takjing NZ as a whole

Maybe because as far as I can remember, whenever there is a case of this kind of terrible violence the farang involved brought it on themselves to some extent.

That's the one

Without evidence  or knowledge, let's blame the victim.

You really are a piece of work.

Let's say ifs buts and maybes to justify 10 against 1

Stupid response

The Gods moved fast to educate you, but you were quicker off the mark.

Your argument is sunk to the bottom of the Ocean, those guys intervened just purely and simply to vent anger because the guy was a foreigner.

They admitted as much, they admitted they didn't know what the argument was even about.

Too many on here need calling out, they try to ' go local ' and pretend they are ' almost Thai ' all is rosy in the garden, and Thais are ' my friends ' etc.

Well, you come upcountry and get into a dispute with anybody, no matter how much ' right ' is on your side, they are not interested.

Get into a land dispute or lend them money, and you'll soon see how friendly they are.

I certainly didn't mean to trigger you, you obviously had some difficulty understanding my post after your trigger went off.

I didn't defend Thais at all.

Your examples of a land dispute or lending money maybe have autobiographical significance to you but have nothing to do with the current discussion which is about encounters between strangers.

The point in a late night encounter between strangers is that often they are avoidable.

Sorry the bad Thais did bad things to you.

Yes well I can see by your level-headed response in this discussion that you are not the type to overreact and cause your self needless trouble.

We may get to the facts of this occurrence but the victim was reluctant to discuss it so probably not.

I'll leave it at that.

Local police in Pattaya swiftly arrested three suspects involved in the assault, which has tarnished the city's reputation as a tourist destination.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looks like news editors of this forum finally stopped saying "Family Friendly tourist destination" when they report an incident from Pattaya.

They must have woken up to the reality.

Again an example of a great family oriented place there must be more to this surely

I noticed something about this news.

Unlike many other incidents reports from Pattaya, it didn't say "family friendly" today.

Instead, it simply mentioned "tourist destination".

Me neither. But as one of my favorite sayings goes: everything is known through comparison. In my opinion, Thailand is a unique country when it comes to human interactions—though it's far from being a paradise. Of course, this is just my personal opinion, but one that many others share.

The OP, very clearly, reported his name as being David Adrian Lelonek.

It was also very clearly reported that the name of one of the suspected attackers was named ....yes you guessed it...BENZ!

Perhaps you might find reading and digesting all the post beneficial before you comment?

The man said "My personal experience with Thailand - the safest country on Earth. "

So obviously he wasn't talking about this unfortunate incident.

Send to him this video and Soi 6 Foreigner head Kick

How annoying you are, people constantly saying that in such situations the foreigner is most likely to blame, not the Thai! Thais have a lot of "cockroaches" in their heads.

The problem is that Thais still end up accumulating negativity, no matter what Buddhists they call themselves. This is aggravated when they see a lot of rich tourists, they begin to envy (this is especially noticeable in Pattaya), and this mentally poisons a person, making her toxic. Plus their women dream of and are drawn to white-skinned foreigners - they are taller, physically stronger, have a big cock, are rich, etc. In general, in the end, the accumulated negativity of these Buddhists still begins to come out. And initially, all Asians in general are not distinguished by courage (I am trying to be correct, you understand what I mean) and their psyche is weak. Therefore, some little thing can explode their accumulated negativity, which we see in this video. And this trend is growing. I'm watching this so I can escape from here in time.

If a foreigner annoys the locals then yes they are to blame. Most tourists are polite, don't annoy the locals, and have no problems at all during their visit. There is always the exception that gets drunk, abuses the locals and then complains that they got a bit of agro.

Don't like the Thais- news flash- stay away from Thailand.

You just revealed that you know sod all about Thai women.

How not to irritate the locals if they behave like children, for example, on the roads? Absolutely not understanding that the 1-3 ton box with wheels they control can easily kill other people if they do not follow the traffic rules, considering it unimportant. This is just an example, in fact, it concerns almost all aspects of life. And in general, this is a classic problem between the southern and northern.

Yes, agree. Outright <deleted>. But not all! Maybe... I don't know for example 20%.
But this is not about me at all, mentally I am a German (a perfectionist, a fanatic of technology, a rule-lover, not a person but just a robot, tech nerd, I'm OK with all this).
But many Thais quickly label me as one of those outright <deleted>!

I'm here only because of the local female attention. Otherwise I would definitely have chosen another country, on another continent.  As long as there is a lot of local female attention to me and I will be more or less safe here.

If you know female psychology well, even just Thai women, you should probably be a Nobel Prize winner.

Yesterday I went to pool of my hotel. There was a group of four very young Thai girls (I think 15-19, I'm over 40). They had dark and unkempt skin, most likely laborers. My hotel is average in price, most likely they are from the village and saved up money for a couple of days of rest in Pattaya. I knew that they would start pestering me, and it started. They were the first to start a conversation, but fortunately they only know a few words of English and therefore they could not support the conversation with me. Thank God it all ended there, because they were unkempt and unattractive, although beautiful like most young Thai girls.

PS: As I said, if it weren't for the increased female attention to me here, I would definitely live in another country, on another continent, where people are much better than Thais and more often meet a Pantheist (pure Buddhist) like me.

Now the mototaxi driver has given his statement to the police, and it's ridiculous beyond belief. He wanted to de-escalate the situation. To do so, he nearly cracked the victim's skull with his helmet and kicked him in the face while he was lying on the ground.

De-escalate my a..s

I hope he not get with 500 Baht away.
