Greetings once again.

On Thursday 6 March, the Consular Team of the British Embassy Bangkok hosted the annual Consular Contacts Reception at The British Club.

The purpose of the event was to recognise and thank stakeholders from both the private and government sector who have worked with the Consular team on providing support to vulnerable British nationals in Thailand. Certificates of appreciation were presented to the following contacts who have been particularly helpful in working with the team to help British nationals.

Nominations:

  • Tourist Police
  • Knight Asia
  • Ministry of Justice - Department of Corrections
  • Immigration Detention Centre
  • Tourist Assistance Centre
  • Somdej Chao Phraya Institute of Psychiatry
  • Samitivej Srinakkharin
  • Banglamung hospital
  • Yoodee Nursing Home
  • Living Well care home
  • Klong Prem prison
  • Bangkok Remand Prison
  • UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific

Another highlight of the event was the speech delivered by Deputy Head of Mission (DHM), David Thomas, who reflected on the remarkable 170-year diplomatic relationship between Thailand and United Kingdom. DHM also noted that the dedication of our contacts demonstrated the strength of the relationship between two countries.

The reception was an opportunity for Consular officers to network and have informal discussions with contacts about collaboration. For British expats in Thailand, this event emphasized the importance of maintaining strong working relationships with local stakeholders.
