Forget the constitution or martial law, its a democratic state and its own people have said they do not want elections while a war is going on, that also goes for the opposing political parties.

Two of Zelenskyy’s main political rivals, Petro Poroshenko and Yulia Tymoshenko, have publicly rejected the idea of wartime elections as impractical and illegitimate. Ukraine’s vibrant civil society has also voiced its opposition to the return of elections before a peace agreement has been signed. Meanwhile, a new opinion poll conducted in February 2025 found that 63 percent of Ukrainians are against holding any national votes until the war with Russia is over.

Its had elections and its own citizens have clearly stated in the majority that they do not want any more until Russia signs a peace deal or the war is over. Do you understand that?

Putin and Putin's puppet Trump want fake elections for Ukraine just like in Russia that Russia can totally control. Only fools don't understand that.

Trump may want elections? but he does not want this deal that Putin suggested.

Are you suggesting some kind of plot? Given that the Constitution was ratified in 1996, that's some long range planning! Very impressive.

No I'm suggesting that military law supersedes "the constitution" and everything else   and as such Zelensky can do whatever he wants  including calling an election ..which he wont.

You're suggesting that? On what basis?

Under the Ukrainian constitution, elections are forbidden. How does that translate to the Canadian constitution doesn't exist or isn't valid?

No not really at least  Putin called elections and won  even during "the war"

Elections in which he allowed the opposition the right to campaign freely and the press to fairly cover their campaign. Just so long as they didn't call what was going on in Ukraine a war.

Putin does best in his Art of Procrastination. He is not a serious peace maker. Ultimately the Russian people or the military will kicked him out as the economy suffocate.
