I do everything online with a computer, never used my phone todo anything other than call or message people so does this mean I can no longer leave and return to Thailand, have always filled in a tm6 on the plane, even immigrations asks for your tm6. While those that cannot live without playing on their phones some of us refuse to use them for anything other than calls etc, going overseas I take my laptop to do anything online, bit hard to show anyone qr code with it. The last tm6 I filled in was in 2019, havent left Thailand since and it is still required every year I do my visa extension

What stops you from completing the  form on your computer and generating a QR code that you  can print out or email to your phone or send it to yourself as a  document? I do my arrive Japan documentation on my laptop.

The fact that you don't do anything on your phone is your personal choice. Live with the consequences. Time marches on and you are getting left behind.  At one time people relied on telegrams and cablegrams. They are obsolete now.  25 years ago, people were resistant to the use of email to send documentation and would insist upon  faxes. That mindset did not last long, The reality is that the people who are most resistant , are elderly and in a few years will not be traveling, so the issue will take care of itself.

Why is it that racists spend their time arguing that things they say aren't racist. There is stupid, stupider and Racist - the fog of racism clouds your ability to look at issues clearly

Try looking in a mirror. You are the one with the condescending attitude that assumes because the IT system is in Thailand, it will crash.

You have obviously not been behind a planeload of junketeers from certain countries when they descend upon the arrivals hall.

The new format will be part of the  passport verification step. If the system crashes, the passport verification will also crash. How is that different from if the system crashed when they were relying on the paper TM6? The IMO was looking scanning the passport and also reading the TM6 form. I know they were  reading the TM6 form because I sometimes forgot to complete some parts like gender, or didn't sign, and was told to  complete. If they could manage  previously if the system crashed, they are going to manage with the  automated form going forward.

Again you ignore the volume of passengers!

What I want to see is the Guys-who-want-to-drink-while-going-through-immigration line.  Pretty much makes whatever form they want moot.

Also dovetails nicely with my earlier proposal that all visitors who intend to consume alcohol while in Thailand be made to be tested for their reaction to alcohol while still at the airport.  Drunks who get unruly or unsophisticated are put on the plane back home.

Good drunks in.  Bad drunks out.  And that's like 90% of your problem right there.

Of course I did I left Thailand during Covid when my contract ended. You just don't seem to gettit - it isn't the "paperwork", it's the amount of people arriving who may not have done th paperwork and the possibility or probability of the system - - crashing - during Covid the place was empty - I sat on a plane with about 6 people in economy class but that obviously hasn't registered with you

I'm sorry, but i cannot make it any clearer than i already have.....nevermind

Confusion?  Why?  It's the same information that people entered on the paper form for years.  There will doubtless be an on arrival backup system in place (...)

I wouldn't be surprised if they had the paper forms ready as a backup. 😆

There was a time that books were also seen as the devil's tools and threatening the cohesion of society.

Japan has  a paper system for the lazy / stupid / progress resistant people. It is also a backuop system should the Visit Japan system fail. The paper people are directed to lines where they can stand and wait. The evisa pax breeze through customs and immigration. In my case it took 10 minutes including the lines at HND.

The days of saying no to a mobile device are over. Consider it a requirement to travel no different than visas and passports. Within the next 5 years, flying will depend upon E boarding passes and e linked  boarding gates.  It is happening now. There are no longer paper airline tickets. It is an eticket. A small group of  technology resistant people  cannot  be allowed to disrupt security and efficiency for others.  These are the same people who delay boarding because they don't have a passport and boarding pass ready to present at the gate, or who demand to board early because they are old, despite  paying for and sitting in zone 5.

I will be the guy in front of you holding up the line....

Because I will not be doing this ever....

The only people you will be holding up are folk like yourself. Everyone else will use the automated immigration gates. Anyone who has visited Singapore, Malaysia etc. in the last couple of years understands why the new system will be easier and faster.

You sound like a typical arrogant person, some people can't afford a 20,000 TB phone, just to use foe the wild scheme, SAD

A two thousand baht phone will suffice; otherwise, there will be alternative options, just like they have at airports in other countries using similar entry procedures. A lot of people in these threads getting all worked up over nothing.

If I my country of residence were Thailand if by the time I would need to do the TDAC Thailand were not on the list, I would select the country of my nationality. If the immigration official would question me about it, I would explain the situation to him.

The only arrogance here is with your comment. A simple visit to any  website for AIS, True, Central, Banana demonstrates that a new smart  mobile phone that has wifi, LTE , 4G or 5G capability can be obtained for 3500 baht. A used model can also be purchased.

https://www.powerbuy.co.th/en/category/phone-and-tablet?orderBy=1&page=14

If a person cannot afford  3500-5000 baht for a communication device, the person should not be flying to a foreign land. The device also  provides a means of  managing IROPS while enroute. If a flight is cancelled or delayed such that one misconnects, how do you propose to quickly rebook an alternative flight or to locate a hotel room? Airlines have rebooking tools that allow for pax to quickly rebook without having to stand in line at a counter. You know, that by the time some poor sap has waited in line for hours to get assistance, other people have gone online and rebooked an alternative route, found a room, and left the airport for a nice meal and a good nights rest. It's called being in control and taking responsibility for one's destiny.

A phone is not needed.

There seem to be quite a few sheep herders in this thread.....Making sure all the wayward sheep get in line with the new proposed TM6.....Or offering door A or door B which both lead to the TM6 room.....New Phone or old Phone....Phone or No phone...etc..

Things work fantastic WITHOUT a TM6 and should stay that way.....

It doesn't look like much of a concern to me, but it would be good if people had the option of filling out a card if they prefer or require that method.

What would concern me is having to pay a fee online and your cards were not accepted.

TDAC is fee free.

Yeah, I know that, but if a fee is required in the future it could be a problem. The 300 baht supposedly for the ETA for example.

ETA and TDAC are two separate things.

No. I didn't. But you knew that didn't you?

And your response bears me out. Bloated, arrogant, loud and lacking in self-awareness like all those who claim to be smarter than the rest they think they're above.

But I don't care. I just think us sheeple occasionally need to let people like you know that we're not as dim as you think. To give you a chance at self-improvement.

I accept that's wasted on you but couldn't care less.
