Im sure americans are going to be hurting at the higher prices of coconut water

Trump wants money to be spent in the USA. He will not cut social security, but he can certainly cut it to those not living in USA.

We may see a lot of poor Yanks soon.

How can he cut out SS for retirees living overseas?  US citizens working and living overseas have and continued receive and/or pay SS taxes every year.  I believe that Congress would not allow that as they too would lose votes.  IMHO only of course as I am not eligible for SS so haven't paid a lot of attention to it.

Easy, just dont tell the government that youre living in thailand

Our friends were worse than our enemies in that regard. Thailand can have all the friends they want if they depend on China they will get burned 100%

..."Our friends were worse than our enemies in that regard" probably explains why Russia (or Israel) isn't on Trump's list of Traffis then doesn't it?

"Thailand can have all the friends... they will get burned 100%," kind of like they have now by America?

It will be interesting to see the additional tariffs, which will now likely come on a huge range of American exports by all the countries that have had tariffs on them now.....and then trump will raise tariffs in return, and then the cycle repeats and no one becomes wealthy.

So ironic that in 2018 Trump signed a FTA with Canada and Mexico that he described (in his own words) as "the greatest deal ever!!"  So great in fact that he has done a complete U-turn and applied tariffs to Mexico and Canada.

Good luck America you are sure gonna need it with an oversized,  badly dressed Cheeto running your country and acting like he is the King of America.

Americans will simply not buy products from Thailand. Thai businesses will be forced to either shut down or move to the US

These naysayers do not realize that if the cost goes up for Thai products. The people will simply not buy them and most likely, will create a business to compete with them in America. Making it better for the Americans.

Thailand and so many other countries have been overpricing American exports for too long.

Try having something sent to you from the US. 250% tax hike dealing with customs. Yet, as my wife said, Thai exports do not even have to pay tax at all... I am most certain it is the same around the world with unfair trade on imports and exports. It should be balanced out.

What did Thailand expect. It purchases many things, like fish, iron, plastics, cheese, from Iran when them USA bans such transactions from there.

Maybe Thailand will reciprocate by deporting all American expats...care of Aeroflot

I doubt it. Americas connection with Thailand is far beyond what 90% of the membership here realizes and the other 10% know not to talk about it.

I daresay Thailand will be coming to the trade table, especially as they start getting more and more of the Chinese business exodus.

Nice. Go Ms. S go. Yo daddy knows how to cut a deal and the fix is already in. Get straight with us tariff wise and have Don make a nice announcement to America how wonderful Thailand is, toss in some tourist shilling for the Tourist authority, get some non stop flights again, start filling up Bangkok with Americans again who spend money which they will have as opposed to the brokedick euros who have to trade vacation money for our planes and our gas and our oil because they have slurped off the USA for too long.

Win=win=win

The only certain result of this is hurting the American consumer, and driving Thai exports to other trading partners. Making Americas Gullible Again!

What Thai products are you talking about?

Again, show us the source where Trump gets his crazy tariff numbers from. I think it does not exist, because it is just one more of his untruths.

Yesterdays presented numbers in isolation is only part of the story, China was at an average 15% or so tariff from the previous Trump administration + 10% + 10% = 35%, + the new 34% on top is now 69%, higher than the 67% he claims is the average China imposes. Now add the extra 25% for steel, stainless steel & aluminium and those products are now 92%, china charges 40% on imports of stainless steel by comparison - this is nothing to do with reciprocal rates

Biden’s White House has aggressively fought its trade war with China. The administration has retained all the tariffs that the Trump White House placed on Chinese imports in 2018 and 2019.

On February 24, the Biden Administration issued a Proclamation imposing additional tariffs pursuant to Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 on imports into the United States of aluminum and certain aluminum derivative articles produced in Russia, as well as aluminum articles where any amount of primary aluminum used in the article is smelted or cast in Russia.   (Well, it is russia after all, even though biden let russia finish the gas pipeline that Trump stopped. )

Beware The “Surprise Fees” In Biden’s 200% Aluminum Tariffs  (I am a hobby machinist and use aluminum to make things.   I can vouch for the increase in aluminum costs.)

the only way to really balance it out and compete with production in the USA is if Americans workers work for a Thai or Chinese salary, maybe that is the next plan

Gonna hurt US consumers more than anyone.
“plundered and stolen from”

lol. He has no clue about economics. The US has benefitted hugely in price and diversity from everyone that sells to them. They can’t make most of what they buy in.

Please explain what '' diversity '  has got to do with tarrifs. Didn't you know that Trump has banned D.E.I.

The good old Trump. Every business he has attempted to run has failed miserably (Trump steaks, Trump University,Trump airlines etc etc). And people think this will Make America Wealthy. Nope America will just be cut out of the supply chain and it's consumers will pay more. Americans think America is too big to fail..well I think Trump with his business acumen will test that theory. Yanks just don't coming running to the rest of the world when it all goes tits up.

No American has ever told you that. You're just making stuff up.

Just about everything America does is subsidized. Most people with any critical thinking can understand why thats a BAD, BAD thing for us.
Now, we're going to have to pay the price and most are willing to do that. Its going to hurt all of us until it starts to heal. Embrace the SUCK.

America has never and will never go running to the rest of the world for anything, you clearly don't know your history.  Now the rest of the world standing there with their hand out ? Constantly.

That Chinese consumer market has been there for eternity.

As we speak, Thailand runs a trade surplus with US (beneficial to Thailand) and a massive deficit with China (negative for Thailand) and has done for many years.

I wonder how/why this massive deficit with China will suddenly turn around ?

"If" China starts offering more equalised trade with Thailand and others, I wonder how that will impact the Chinese economy :whistling:

Frankly, I can see why the Yanks have targeted Thailand. Been enjoying a trade surplus with them, whilst subsidising the CCP economy....

It's pretty simple . Trump wants all the companies who make products that America America to move their operations to the U.S. and employ Americans. He  has also offered to give them a very low tax rate.
