When you talk if you could only hear your anger and dislike for Americans. Better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Anti American Rhetoric 101.

You're going to see a lot more like that. If I was an American, I would be <deleted>ttting myself at present. Especially if I thought I could retire in Thailand for the first enable future.

This is exactly it. Instead of strengthening the American economy the tariff wall will weaken it. It's gonna be less to choose from and at higher prices.

Another page from the socialist handbook brought to you by the wannabe fuhrer.

Remember it's Americans who pay the tariffs. They are paid by those who import the stuff not by the countries who make it.

I guess so.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/we-now-know-the-full-extent-of-trumps-reciprocal-tariffs-theyre-huge-232020114.html

We now know the full extent of Trump's reciprocal tariffs. They’re huge.

If import purchases stayed the same, that would raise the tariff bill to about $960 billion, making it an $880 billion tax hike paid by American businesses and consumers.

“It’s the biggest tax hike on Americans since the 1940s,” trade expert Inu Manak of the Council on Foreign Relations told Yahoo Finance on April 2. “The only thing these tariffs are going to do is increase costs.”

I though taxes were the price we paid for civilization.

Just to demonstrate how dumb these tariffs are:

McDonald and Heard Islands are subject to a 10% tariff by the USA. They are uninhabited.

Norfolk Island is an Australian dependency. Australia has been hit with 10% tariffs, Norfolk Island 29%. It exports nothing to the USA.

Wake up yourself. Everything in America will cost more. Except shares.

Economics 101 says the US will go into recession or even depression. You guys have lost the plot completely.

Are you making the case taxes are bad?

If that was to be true, there would be no taxes under Trump, as he clearly is doing his best to wipe out civilization in the US

I know. Not sure what that's got to do with what I wrote.

Wise words. Now, if you could only take your own advice.

Do you understand what a tariff is?  Its a tax paid by the buyer of a product coming from the exporting country.  In this case its US consumers who will be paying this additional tax on Thailand products. Thailand is free to redirect its US exports to other countries that honour free trade. Only the US consumer loses in a trade war!

Do you understand that  IF the Thai Government didn't have the Ridiculous high Tariffs on  import goods then Maybe DT would've put a  Lower Tariff on so Thailand would've /could import more goods into the US Now there will be Less Imports into the US from Thailand .

So You're Wrong.   As for Redirecting Via other countries They've been slammed with higher tariffs so that Won't help if they export the Thai goods to the US.

US can make anything

...but they don't...... here's an analogy....if you want a pick up you will be paying the tariff...not Thailand.

The reason you don't make it in the US is because it was cheaper to buy from Thailand. However if evebtually you make a sumilar onevin the US it will cost more....unless you want to work fir $12 a day. Of course with the removal of the minimumwage and immigrants, you may have to.

It's all very well, but most businesses don't just work for a protected home market, they need to export to survive. Well Thailand won't want your trucks because they make cheaper ones themselves.....so your new pick up industry is fecked from the start..... which won't be for a few years anyway

Started by explaining it is an analogy... but my guess is people wint get that. It's a little bit hard for some to understand, so I expect a few "confused" emogees from the resident thickos.

Yes there are many very stupid Americans, but they will be feeling the reality of this very soon indeed.

what is Thailands tariff on importing a Tesla etc still 300%?

300%? I think its 0% from China (FTA) and 60% from USA. I suspect most come from China. This is why they are similar prices to the USA.

Maybe Thailand will reduce their 300% tariff on Californian wine.

Google Ai says they are gone no more tariffs on Cal wine since 2/24.

As of February 2024, Thailand has eliminated tariffs on wine imports, including those from California, under the Harmonized System (HS) codes 2204 and 2205.

Just like Trump’s 'big, beautiful' Mexican border wall—this tariff wall won’t be paid for by Mexico—or Canada, Europe, China, Australia, or Thailand. Nope—just like the border wall, Americans will foot the bill.

Oh do tell! Does less competition and higher prices sound like good ol' capitalism to you? Or does it sound like national socialism?

BTW, just so you know Hitler named his political party the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP).

Yes, was all 'economic disaster' when Trump implements them,  when Biden kept many of them it didnt make the news cycle.... funnily enough

Huge difference with Bull In China shop implementation and targeted tariffs. I really want to see how Trump got that 72% import tax figure from.

Just as Trump promised that Mexico would pay for his wall, he thinks others will pay for his tariff wall. Americans are in for a surprise.

GM forecast that, just for example, a $50,000 Silverado will climb to about $58K. A Corvette's price will go up from $70K for a base Stingray to approximately $80K.

Really? Personally, I'd pay good money to not have to see that particular part of his body.

What does it say about the level of intellect in the US? To put the finances of the country under the control of a six time bankrupt.

Applies to Bessent, Rubio, Vance, etc as much or more than the people who voted without thinking. Make America Great Again is laughable.

Where would the Americans living in Thailand prefer to live now?
