A mother was left heartbroken in the early hours of the morning of 6 April, after she drove past a crash site and realised the overturned motorcycle belonged to her son, who was found dead at the scene.

The crash occurred around 01:50, at the Sri Chum–Super Highway junction heading towards Lampang Rajabhat University, on the Lampang–Mae Tha Road in Phra Bat subdistrict, Mueang Lampang district.

Police from Khelang Nakhon Station were alerted to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in which the rider had reportedly lost control and fallen. Rescue teams from Sawang Nakhon Lampang Foundation rushed to the scene alongside a police investigator.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found a young man unconscious with severe injuries, bleeding from his mouth and nose. CPR was administered immediately, but the man could not be revived. A doctor from Lampang Hospital later confirmed his death. The victim was identified as Mr. Weerapun aged 26.

The man’s mother had been driving home at the time and happened to pass the scene. Recognising the fallen motorcycle, she stopped and discovered her son lying unresponsive beside the road. Witnesses described her collapsing in grief upon realising he had died.

According to her statement, her son had been drinking at a friend’s house earlier that evening. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though initial reports suggest he lost control of the vehicle while riding alone.

Police and hospital officials conducted a preliminary examination at the scene before transferring the body to Lampang Hospital for a full post-mortem. The family has since taken custody of the body to perform religious funeral rites.
