I can’t see the US attacking Iran. They have used so much weaponry going after the Houthi’s, there is now a shortage. They have also had limited effect on the Houthi weapons stored underground, so Iran with their even deeper storage facilities would be really difficult to destroy. No point hitting them if you can’t destroy their weaponry and take out their Nuclear building facilities.

Israel already knocked out some of Irans nuclear facilities and a lot of the air defense it had.

Thanks for the link, I hadn’t read about that success! I did see a video the other day showcasing the amount of weapons that the Iranians had stored underground, it was quite startling. It’s a bit of a concern that they are likely to use these weapons to hit US targets and Israel if they are attacked. I know Israel has been very successful fending off previous Iranian attacks, but there are a lot of weapons in storage.

Yes,  Russia was  helping Assad. However, there was no concern for the people or a motivation  rooted in expanding a religious doctrine. Rather, the goal of Russia was to manipulate oil prices so that it could get as high a price as possible. It wanted the port in Syria so it could meddle in the Mediterranean too. Russia has no love for Iran because Iran is also linked to  violent fundamentalists in the Russian "stan" republics.  Russia and Putin are a threat to world peace, but in a different way than Iran.

No, Israel nuking Iran even with Russia tossing a few duds won't kill everyone. 

 

A global nuclear war would be catastrophic and could kill hundreds of millions (or more), it's highly improbable that it would literally end all human life.

Never mind about reality. Going by the latest fiasco on Yemen, they'll send some missiles, blow up some people and claim a great victory.

The remark in respect to oil price was in respect to the region. A country that can influence how many vessels can safely transit the Persian Gulf, Suez Canal and the Mediterranean Sea can also influence the cost of oil. Short supplies of Gulf Arab sourced oil pushes world price up and then both Iran and Russia then profit because they  get a higher price for its oil.

Let us make an assumption that it will end up as a full scale nuclear war and that most of the people are dying or dead. Not only nuclear, but biological and chemical warfare also.

 

However there will be nuclear safe shelters for certain people to escape into. But how many people will make the shelter and how long will they have to stay there. Take any number you like for the people inside the shelter.

 

How much food will you store away to feed that number of people 3 times a day?

How much clean water will you store for the same number of people?

Where will you send all the waste water from the toilets and showers?

Where will you store all the trash?

How much fuel will you store to run the generators to keep the shelter running?

Most importantly, how many years  would you be willing to live underground?

 

Now the war is over after a number of years, and you are one of the survivors. You leave the shelter and find what?

 

A devastated world with polluted land so you can't grow food, the rivers and the seas are polluted, so you can't even eat the fish, There will be no undamaged roads and the only vehicles will be the ones in the shelter. There won't be any fuel left anyway, nor will there be any gas or electricity to pump the non-existent fuel.

 

There will be no government, no police, no hospitals, no military etc as they will all have vanished. There may be money in the banks, jewels and gold in the shops simply because you can't eat them. There will be no food, water or even beer because they will have been taken in the first few days

 

There may even be surviving humans, if they (and you) are unlucky, but I don't think that you would want to meet them.

 

I will ask you again, are you really willing to let Trump take that chance.
