A fatal road crash occurred late night on 9 April, when a motorcyclist lost control and crashed into an electricity pole on Pattanakarn Road near Wat Khao Sao Thong Thong in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi.

The incident has once again raised concerns among local residents, who are urging authorities to install clear warning signs at what they describe as a “cursed curve” known for repeated deadly crashes.

Rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation were dispatched following a report to their radio centre at 21:45. Pol. Sub-Lt. Sanya Jaichan, deputy investigator at Nong Prue Police Station, also responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found a man, estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old, lying in a pool of blood at the base of the pole. He was dressed in a black t-shirt and long denim jeans but carried no identification. The man had suffered head injuries and a broken neck and was in critical condition. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Near the body, officers discovered a severely damaged grey Honda Forza motorbike bearing a red temporary registration plate (Sriracha Police Station).

Eyewitnesses from the nearby community reported that the motorcyclist was travelling at high speed when he lost control navigating the bend and struck the power pole with significant force. Locals added that the curve has long had a deadly reputation, having claimed numerous lives and left many injured over the years. They said repeated requests have been made to authorities for warning signs or safety improvements, but no action has yet been taken.

Pol. Sub-Lt. Sanya stated that CCTV footage from the surrounding area will be reviewed to determine the exact cause of the crash. The deceased has been transported to a local hospital morgue where authorities await contact from family members to claim the body.

Residents continue to call for urgent safety measures to prevent further tragedies at this dangerous bend.

You really think signs would make any difference? Everyone ignores pedestrian crossing in any case.

Well there's the problem - the curves !!  Remove them and the roads will be safer 😎

But then you have these damned intersections, blind corners 🤣

Coming of Khao Talo the road sweeps downhill.

Riding a Forza, new bike, red plated, just learning to ride probably, not a competent rider.

If dark after a few beers, at speed, your going to get unstuck.

Notorious Pattaya Curve ????

OK, then people should be aware and drive slow and careful.

They forgot to put up a note on the pole or near the curve?
