Yes they did - until - they realised that the illegals mostly vote Democrat, because they are the Party that gives them welfare money and free stuff  - same as the blacks following LBJ's new deal program.  So since then, they say what is needed for the CNN soundbites  but then they do exactly the opposite.  Importing voters has been a winning strategy for Dems for many decades - just look at California and New York and other Dem States.  That is where most illegals go, because they offer so many free handouts - and voter ID is banned so they can vote Dems once they get a licence - which the Dem States give to them ASAP.  It is all about importing voters to make up for all the People who wake up each year and switch to voting for GOP.  But not Asians - they are too industrious - they start businesses and get jobs - they dont want them because they vote GOP - they want 3rd world (especially Africans and Muslims) who will stay on Govt handouts.
