I am travelling to Thailand, arriving 24th May leaving a week later. My passport expires on 22nd Dec so will be short by 2 days of the 6 month minimum.

How stringent do you think immigration will be ? For the record, I have plenty of stamps showing in/out dates, never overstayed or done visa runs

I'm thinking of renewing but I'm worried that the passport won't get back to me in time.

Thanks

Suggest you obtain a new pp.

Is there option for "express service" for pp renewal.

Having stated that it's the airline that might have an issue with the "6 month rule" not immigration

Very unlikely that the airline will let you fly. They are not flexible because any breach of the rule results in a heavy fine on them.

Should be no problem, he's got nearly 7 months when he flies.

Yes can do 1 day express but will have to take a day off work which is something I want to avoid 🙂

24 May plus six months is 24 November. On the date of arrival in Thailand, your passport will have a remaining validity of six months and 22 days.

Apologies I meant Nov not Dec.
