berries are very nutritious, and low on the GI.   Not a fan of the fresh here, especially the strawberries.   Taste wise or pricing.   Fresh berries turn too fast.

Fz strawberries @ Makro are only ฿99 / kg

Eat plenty of fresh local fruit, when in season.  Some not pairing well with corn flakes 🙄

IME fresh strawberries keep quite well when refrigerated after coring out the stalks. The Akhas in the CR day markets have the cheapest. Grown in the mountains.

Fruit such as pineapple, mango  and bananas are too high in carbohydrate and sugar.

Corn flakes are pure carbohydrate. As a snack, I prefer pork rinds or bamboo.

I actually need the non dietary fiber in the corn flakes, as I don't eat a whole lot of carbs.  Keep my intestinal track 'moving / exercising', along with slowing things down for the carbs I actually do eat.

Since I switch my last snack to 'breakfast', I'm a lot more regular.  Actually missed my cereal & fruit, as I stopped eating it for breakfast.   Was eating cheesecake, cashews & cheese, etc for last snack, but a bit too much saturated fat in my diet, since cutting carb intake down so much.

Get enough fats & protein in the awake hours of munching.

I would suggest Kelloggs' Bran Flakes instead, higher in fibre. Available on Lazada. Bamboo is another excellent source of fibre.

On the rare occasions I get stuck, a glass of Forlax or Macrogol moves things along. I steer clear of Senokot, irritates the bowel.

I am fairly sure the chili  Thais use on nearly everything keeps them regular, because their constant diet of rice should clog them up like a tree root in a drain.

1210 calories in 480g steak. Large potatoes be 600. 1800 calorie meal.

Depending of your exercise routines.

Heavy lifting and muscular you need at least 25% protein, 50% carbs and 25% fat roughly up to 40% protein and whatever you find preferred of carbs and fat, but for a thumbof rule, no less than 40% carbs.

Same works well for more anaerob exercises but no less than 25% protein no matter what you think.

I prefer for maintenance now 30% of fat and protein, and 40% carbs. Works well to maintain muscles and keeps body fat percent below 20%

How do you stop getting hungry at night? Im never hungry til after noon but lots at night.

Theoretically, you shouldn't be eating anything for at least a few hours before bed.  It's hard to say, though, what you're going through and why.

Are you addicted to sugar?  Have you tried cutting it out altogether, along with processed food, ultra-processed food, high fructose corn syrup, seed oils, and so on?  Have you ever tried a carnivore diet?

They say if you're used to sugar and then cut it out, the "hunger" you experience the next few days is just your body craving the sugar it's addicted to.  But after a few days, the cravings diminish.

You may think you don't eat much sugar, but you probably do.  It's in everything, or so it seems, and if it's not sugar, it's high fructose corn syrup, or modern processed flour which is almost instantly converted in the  body to act like sugar.  Look at the labels on the food you eat.  You might be surprised.  Do you drink orange juice?  For all practical purposes, you might as well be drinking sugar.

I'm not sure what's banned in Thailand and what isn't.  I do know that, in Europe, for example, much of the food made in America isn't even allowed for various reasons.

My main point is that if you closely examine what you eat on a daily basis, you may well find that you're eating sugar or some foods that are equally bad in terms of how your metabolism functions.

Maybe you should try to find a good dietician or a doctor that specializes in what they call functional medicine.  it can't possibly hurt.

It is simple, it is all about dicipline, same as smoking, alcohol, and using medication that mask the real problems.

You develop mental strength to control your hunger.

One of the best ways is to fast.  Don't eat for a day and learn to tame the beast within.  Parodoxically you don't cure hunger by eating, but by not eating.

The Holy Bible describes two brothers inside of you, one of which is the animal beast with insatiable desires.  By fasting you tame this hunger sensation and put the hunger beast under control of the other brother.

The healthiest way to eat that also doesn't leave you hungry or gaining weight is 5 small meals a day. Never missing breakfast also. Eating every 3 hours, small amounts, gives your body the calories it needs, along with not having your blood sugar lowering so much. Carbs digest fast and protein keeps you satiated longer. If you eat this way you won't be hungry at 10PM and eating that late, just before bed, isn't a good idea anyway. I've been doing this for the last 50 years and have had no problems with hunger or gaining extra fat. Too large a steak or any protein source is hard to digest.

The Holy WHAT? It is 2025 not 33 AD.

What does the Koran say about it?

If you've been doing 5 meals a day and not gaining fat, consider yourself lucky.

Or maybe you work out religiously and do a lot of exercise.

That would never work for me. Even 3 meals is too much, so I've gone back to 2. I will start skipping breakfast.

No, just know about nutrition and not much of a cheater in eating. I worked out 3-4 days a week from 17 to 62, when I moved here. Not having a gym close by that was open early, I slowed down the amount of training but still doing it. The only cardio I've ever done was martial arts but not weekly. If you eat small meals, you won't eat too much that will be stored and you won't be hungry. Missing breakfast is the worse thing you can do, as you'll likely eat too much later when your body needs less. Not eating too late, less than 3 hours before sleep, is also a tip. A meal can be 2 yogurts, a couple of pieces of fruit, a bowl of soup, a protein drink, small sandwich etc. Breakfast is usually 2 eggs, whole grain toast with sugar free jelly, oatmeal with a banana and soy or almond milk and coffee with Equal.Dinner is pasta with ground chicken and sauce, chicken and rice, Pad Krapow, Pho, fish and rice, or Thai food at my girlfriends house. Easy to follow and you'll never be starving.

yeah sorry, sounds like you're eating a massive amount of food and very high carbs.

have no idea how you're keeping the weight off, but that won't work for me.

i don't do pasta anymore and still having trouble keeping the weight down.

although i may take your advice on the breakfast thing. though the issue is there are way more food options available after 5-6 pm. so that's why I wanted to skip breakfast and just do lunch and supper. thanks for sharing anyway, but your system won't work for me.

No, small meals and low in fat . I might eat an average of 2000 calories a day or less. Rice, pasta, potatoes, sweet potatoes as complex and salad greens, green beans and lower carb veggies. If you eat small portions and not until full most times, you won't get too many calories and store fat, and also not get too hungry as the meals are closer together, so your blood sugar doesn't drop too much during the day. If you're afraid of the carbs, stick with rice and lower the amount of potatoes and pasta. Breakfast is only one piece of toast instead of the usual two. I rarely eat sugar except what's in spaghetti sauce and don't drink calories besides the occasional beer or wine. Staying away from simple sugars is the most important thing if you want to stay slim. If you only ate complex carbs like potatoes, sweet potatoes, grains and rice and stayed away from higher calorie foods you wouldn't gain weight also, as they're low in total calories. Many people eat until full and that's not a good idea.

You might benefit from a food diary, better still post it here, likely you are eating more than you think and the wrong food

Skipped breakfast this morning (apart from coffee), and did not feel hungry until noon. So definitely have been eating too much.

I've been bouncing around like a pinball, constantly changing due to contradictory health advice from different sources. I don't know what I'm doing anymore.

We should do a "What You Eat in a Day" thread.

Everyone posts exactly what they eat and the times. And their waistline / BMI

Not a bad idea but I'd recommend listening only to people who are consistently slim, they've got it right. I often ask women in particular how they stay slim, slim thai women 40+ are careful what they eat, not too much

I think some people simply do not get fat as easily as others due to genetics, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're healthy. Being slim is one indicator of health, but not the only one. My father was never fat but still had heart issues. So some people are deluding themselves. They think because they're slim their diet is perfect.

In a way, I'm lucky I get fat easily. Because my body is warning me something is off.
