I've been getting good quality crowns and root canals done for about 9,000 baht, a small fraction of what it would cost in the US and the work is top quality. I got an very good implant for 35,000 baht, and my friend was quoted $7,000 in the San Francisco area.

I spend a lot of time in India and I love the place, but I don't think I would trust it for medical treatment. Thailand is infinitely more sanitary than India.

I had a lot of dental work in India. Better than my clinic in America for 1/4 the price.

I think that clinic said 60k or an implant. I need to start shopping around more. I must have found one of the most expensive clinics in Chiang Mai.

I had a root canal done on a pre-molar (2 roots) a couple of months ago in Pattaya. Two visits required, 4000 baht each visit. No crown required at this stage but it stopped the pain I was having (a hairline crack in the tooth, old age catching up with me)

Every time I go to Chiang Mai,, I have a check up at CM dental. They are very good. Even send a car to pick you up from your hotel. All the prices are on their website.

I've had a lot of dental work done in Thailand, and it's far better than the US, at 1/5th the price.

12 implants would probably be more in the 600-700,000 baht range so. Crazy Turkey is so much cheaper than Thailand now.

My neighbor got a root canal for 5000 baht but it was through a public hospital which waiting lists which can be months long. There's got to be cheaper options because the average Thai people can't afford 40,000 root canals.

I should mention I have Genki Health Insurance, at 53 it costs 104 Euro per month, and the deductible is 50 Euro.

Dental is included, if it is due to pain, ie not aesthetic work.

I was just in a meeting with my boss in America, myself in Thailand and 3 Indians. I mentioned that I got a root canal here and it's going to be 40,000 baht. This includes the root canal, an artificial root and a crown (Maysa Dental Clinic in Mae Jo, Chiang Mai). The root canal portion is 20k while the crown is 20k, partially because I chose the most expensive material on offer.

Anyways, I asked the Indians what it costs there and one of them said it was 4000 rupees, which is 1500 baht. I find this very hard to believe but he insisted. I'm thinking this is a public hospital or subsidized somehow but I have no idea, could be the real price at a private clinic to the same standards as Thailand.

Then my boss in America tells me he pays $8/month for his dental insurance and would pay around $1500 deductible for a root canal in America (50,000 baht) and I'm sure this varies by location quite a bit.

So what is going on here? I thought 40k was a good price for cash but $8 USD/month is nothing and Indian prices totally blew me away. Did I get ripped off at my clinic? What prices have you seen for root canals in Thailand?

A root canal for a molar will average about 13K here, less for pre-molars and teeth with one canal.  20K?  Overpriced.

Actually it depends on number of sessions needed, 20K not unusual if say 4-5 sessions required as has happened to me.

Relative had it done at Thai Red Clinic, 5 years ago was still around 13-15k.

Note these prices are  not inclusive of crown.  Cost of crown will vary with the material/quality selected.
