Crime AI Police Robot Helps Catch 14 Criminals in Thailand

A cutting-edge police robot has made its mark by assisting in the capture of 14 suspects at various events in Thailand. The AI-powered Police Cyborg 1.0, equipped with advanced facial recognition technology, was lauded by the National Police Chief for its role in enhancing public safety.

 

Unveiled at the Songkran Festival in Nakhon Pathom, the robot demonstrated its ability to identify attendees with outstanding arrest warrants. It successfully led to the apprehension of 14 individuals during its deployment. The Police Cyborg 1.0 works by integrating existing CCTV and drone footage to offer a comprehensive surveillance solution.

 

The robot's AI capabilities include recognising faces on a blacklist, tracking suspicious individuals, and identifying weapons and potential violent behaviour. Notably, it has proven effective at events like cockfighting derbies and local markets, leading to several arrests in connection with drug offences, theft, and other criminal activities.

Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet expressed his delight at the innovation, noting its potential to reduce crime and threat levels significantly. The robot serves as a valuable tool by maintaining public safety without the need for extensive officer deployment.

 

He further emphasised that the success of this AI innovation paves the way for broader implementation, with the potential to serve as a model for other regions. As the technology continues to evolve, it promises to offer substantial support in crime prevention and community policing.

... means all those 14 criminals... moved around in the area in vicinity of the Thai RoboCop... for him to run a Facial recog... and then the other standby cops... dashed in and got hold of these criminals... and luckily all were in the area @ Nakhon Pathom...

I think that is an Ai depiction. If it works from cctv and drone footage, it could be anywhere and just be a computer mainframe.

So it's a mannequin with a CCTV camera embedded, so nothing that has been available for quite a few years. So why all the fuss, it doesn't actually do much.

Typical thai police too busy patting themselves on the back, they had a secret weapon but had to shout it from the rooftops to big up themselves. Now everyone knows about it and what it looks like and it's best to wear face mask and sunglasses when it's about

Absolutely! Totally misleading. Camera(s) scan the crowd, computer runs database comparison and flags the results on a monitor for a human to make a decision. No mention of how many false positives were followed up before picking 14. 

I suggest turning the cameras inward and scanning the operators would produce a higher success rate. 😀
