Thailand is done.

I was at the temple today with my mate Pun and there was a bunch of foreigners sitting in the shade while the Thai family did the prayers and made a merit.  Pun went on to say that This is a Buddhist country and why should they try and convert us to their Christian ways?

 

Longer wait times at hospitals, increased crime rate.  And I feel nervous when they speak English.  This is Thailand.  Speak Thai.

 

Anyone else fed up with all these foreigners coming in?

And them speaking English made you uncomfortable?

They sound like well behaved visitors to me.

Had a nice storm this evening. Got soaked but now it's a cool 22C outside and peaceful. Life is pretty good.

There are real missionaries in Thailand. I've seen them in Chiang Mai. How these people are allowed to enter any countries is a mystery to me.

foreigners complaining about too many foreigners here, and want to stop the influx or send them back ... 

 

Guess this is the one instance in which they are both 'the problem & the solution'.   Just leave, as you don't like anything about TH anyway ...

The Pope Francis did come to Thailand a couple of years back ....

His cousin actually lives here as a nun too.

Yes, we had a spell, prior to COVID, of Mormon missionaries canvassing our neighbourhood looking for converts. The ones doing the talking were Korean women, with a couple of young American men loitered around giving orders, the Koreans could speak Thai. Thankfully not seen them since COVID.

I think Thai Buddhists and nationals should be more fearful of the Islamic separatist movement (Bombings and shootings on a weekly basis) in the South of Thailand. Than a few western Christians sat in the shade soaking up the Thai culture and putting much needed revenue into local communities coffers .

I think you're trying to make some sort of parallel between foreigners in Western countries, but it just isn't the same, so I don't know what you hope to achieve.

Longer wait times at hospitals, hmm, have you tried private hospitals, my experience is between 5-10 minutes to see a Doctor, that said, you have to pay, beats sitting at a public hospital for hours to see a junior Doctor who in my opinion, has no idea. Just from my experience, that and most Doctors in private hospitals are trained overseas when seeing a specialist. Fork out, put up, or go back to where you came from, maybe it's better there and that's why your here ?

 

Increased crime rate, where ? Crimes are and have been around for centuries, that said, I feel safer here than back in my home country because the laws there when sentencing are pi$$ weak.

 

I take it you speak Thai fluently and have Citizenship ?

But there's all kinds of em, eg. strong outpost of jehovas <deleted> witnesses in Phayao, Japanese disciples amongst Thais, I kid you not as they're my neighbours, fine people otherwise, 555 ...

Interesting. They are all over the place in CM, they have actual bases here. Thais don't discourage them at all. There's bible centres here. Even Soka Gakkai is here, which some view as a cult.

Who are those people who ride around bicycles and wear the black slacks and white shirts? Mormons? They 

 

I also see some women who often wear dresses and have this little skull cap thing like the Jewish men wear. They're some Christian sect but not sure which one.

 

I see both of these from time to time in Chiang Mai. In fact a friend of my wives dad was a Thai Christian and I wen to his funeral at "church" in Chiang Mai. It was really bizarre the preacher there was even soliciting during the funeral which was in really bad taste.

There are also jewish hardcore skull caps, Chabad have an actual base here in Chiang Mai. Thai police even protect them, as they do in the US, Germany and other European countries.

Doesn't matter as all religions seem very hypocritical and always have a want your money.  Mostly the same.

Oh great even more of them. The whole world has descended on Chiang Mai now. Not what I signed up for.
