Overflowing the Swamp: Promises Made, Facts Deleted

Featured Replies

I remember when the now president promised to “drain the swamp,” like he was some kind of political plumber in a gold-plated boiler suit. Fast-forward to now and the only thing that got drained was taxpayer cash straight into his mates’ pockets and the minibar at Mar-a-Lago. The swamp’s still here, lads, only now it’s got a gift shop, NFTs of him riding a T-Rex, and a cover charge of one broken democracy.

It’s not drain the swamp anymore, is it. It’s Scam the Swamp: Live in Concert. Tour starts in DC, ends in a courtroom, and includes a brief intermission where he sells you gold sneakers for four hundred quid while telling you Biden caused the Great Depression and probably 9/11 while he was at it. Promises made, facts deleted. That’s the motto now. Can’t deliver healthcare, can’t bring down grocery prices, can't end any wars, can't build a border wall or any infrastructure at all, can't reduce the spending deficit or government spending in general, can't make a single trade deal, but can absolutely sell you a Bible he’s never opened and a steak he’s never cooked.

Every lie’s now a limited edition collectible. “The election was stolen.” Collectible. “The media’s the enemy.” Collectible. “I never said that.” Collectible. “I barely know the guy.” Collectible. Every time you catch him red-handed, he just hits rewind and says you dreamt it.

Bob NEVER wrote this eloquently, and there was almost always a reference to his latest sexual conquest - be it man or beast.

and you forgot that even after swearing twice on a Bible the oat to protect the US Constitution, he has no idea what that means and even admitted to that fact on "Meet the Press" show.  Also providing offices to the super rich (riches total over 450Billion USD, reportedly more than the GDP of 172 countries in the world) with promises to even lower the taxes of these rich folk while he drives the US economy to a recession that doesn't affect the rich, only his MAGgots. IMHO anyway!

Early days. Allow a couple of years before passing judgement.

In a couple of years on the current trajectory, perhaps 70% of Americans won't be overweight or obese anymore.

This ain’t Bob.
This is a guy who’s fully tuned in.

He’s got the far right bigots up against the wall and delivering it to ‘em.

Bob is/was pro Trump. He wouldn't say anything negative or judgmental about him.

That picture reeks of desperation, with everything cladded with fake gold, but the ceilings so low that you may hit your head on the chandelier.

Yeah latest I heard was Biden is still responsible for the 90-sec dead air at Newark airport this week, plus the education system too, plus the market drop earlier was Biden;'s fault too, pretty soon folks might cease to blame Biden for everything Trump and the rich ones (450+ billions of US dollars together and more than 172 countries' GDP) in his cabinet.  BTW FAA says someone at the pentagon earlier caused two commercial air passenger jets to abort their landing because some general using a helicopter for local travel.

I don’t think he has a coherent value structure as most of us understand it. I think we’re seeing a president who’s operating without anything any of us would recognize as a conscience. Truly.

It is about showing what he can get away with. It’s about showing his enemies that what they support, he can tear down. It is all about displays of brute strength. He gets off on that, and in that sense, it seems not so much an autocracy but a flexocracy. Let me show you how I can flex my bicep as I use it to power my fist coming into your face.

It’s not about any coherent values. It’s not about any North Star. It’s about showing that you can turn the boat 180 degrees around and that you can do whatever you want and you can bring the people who opposed you to their knees. And he is creating much destruction, and accomplishing very little in return. Trump is a true goombah. A very sorry and pathetic man, and a horrible leader.

but, if someone continuously promises after day one he will accomplish numerous new rules and regulations that will take effect immediately.  Everyone will have a well paying job and happy!  Even if new manufacturing plants are built, they will house ROBOTS and not all those folks fired from their jobs and no pay at all .  IMHO there are going to be some really unhappy people SOON!  Congress still has to pass that "great big beautiful budget bill" with 680 billion US dollars found somewhere and they are still looking at medicafre and medicade plus other benefit programs that the rich never use so feel that they are useless and willing to make the poor and hungry suffer even more.  I am not so sure that DJT will even be around in a couple of years - he seems to me to be fading just like ol' Biden was.

Promises to shut the border of Bidens/ Harris newcomers 99 % !

I find it interesting how, on all these anti-Trump posts, the positive reactions from the anti-Trump community (emoji-wise) are usually at least 50% higher than the negative ones made by his cultist followers. Just goes to show, his minions are an insufferably pesky minority, but definitely not the majority. Case in point right now: 26 positive, only 10 negative.

Sure, if going both ways does it for you. To each his own. Not my thing.
