Good, they invest their money, they get richer. They deserve their returns.

The key is to invest in businesses with pricing power. I imagine the bars are suffering; no pricing power in beer.

The poor get into debt to look richer.

I doubt the billionairess will notice

  • It is guaranteed in any poll anywhere that people will want the government to do more for them...and yet the same people typically want others to pay. Good grief, why bother with such polls?

  • Thai people say where is our 10k bribe money 😁

In Thailand, the average household debt has reached a record high of 606,378 baht, up 8.4% from the previous year. This increase is primarily driven by rising living costs and slower economic growth. The average monthly debt payment is 18,787 baht, with a delinquency rate of 71.6%. So they are happy until payments are unable to be made and then they just default.

Was that a typo - 71.6% delinquency?  7.16% seems possible.   The world just seems to add unfathomable  debt with no real consequences since the financial crisis.  I have given up trying to forecast the repercussions after being wrong for years.

The point was: some people don't like to see others succeed financially.

Wow. Seems like spending jumped during Covid, then never went back down. I wonder why 🤔

The point was: most people don't like supermarket monopoly's which is likely unregulated.

Surely, Thailand has enough different supermarkets, no?

Lotus's

Big C

Makro

Villa

Foodland

Tops

MaxValu

GourmetMarket

Rimping

FreshMart

Any more?

Hardly a monopoly.

Thailand also has so many fresh markets to choose from too (for food) and there's always 7eleven, Lawson, and Jiffy for your toiletries etc. etc.

I am just waiting for Costco to enter Thailand. They are already big in Japan, Taiwan, and starting to expand in China.

Whilst it may not be considered a monopoly by OTCC,   it did place conditions on CP group ....    requiring CP Group to increase sales of products from small and medium-sized firms and limiting further acquisitions.

The CP Group's acquisition of Tesco's hypermarkets and smaller format stores in Thailand has significantly increased its market share, especially in the hypermarket sector.

CP Group operates various retail channels, including hypermarkets (Tesco Lotus, Makro), convenience stores (7-Eleven), and supermarkets (CP Fresh Mart), serving different consumer segments.

Some analysts and observers express concerns that CP Group's dominance in multiple retail channels could lead to a situation where it exerts considerable influence over consumer choice and supply.

So? Makro is good value, better than Tesco.

You'd think they'd drive the prices up on both of them if they had a monopoly.

What's wrong with 7eleven? Their prices don't even seem to keep up with inflation. They are hardly ripping us off

I think Makro is the best value for groceries overall,   7-11 can be expensive ...   but consumers are not going to go to Makro or Big C for a chocolate milk & ham cheese sandwich are they.

Exactly, it's a convenience store, notva supermarket. What's your point?

As the Paetongtarn Shinawatra administration hits the six-month mark, financial strains from household expenses are mounting.

Paetongtarn spends more on a single branded handbag than most middle class Thais earn in a year...

Inflation... she probably doesn't even know what that is as it's never affected her.

those numbers reflect what I have experienced. Basically no inflation except a brief period in 2022.  Just a hunch but I think many Thais are sinking in debt and have little disposable income and hence the tame inflation numbers.  Everybody seems happy in my area but the level of manic spending on homes and cars has cooled.

Nice to see an intelligent comment as opposed to just a thumbs down from the illiterate morons on here!!!!

a whopping 86% of people want immediate intervention to curb rising consumer prices.
