(I have no connections to it) which can back up ALL apps AND their data (settings, messages etc) and then you put the same app on new phone and download everything. Has worked pretty seamlessly for me many times. I think it cost me about B60 for the pro version - not sure if it's still around but I think so.

Even between two Samsungs, that alleged Smartswitch is a complete hand-gesture, as is everything Samsung nowadays. My Backup is the only thing I found that will fairly reliably transfer app SETTINGS as they were on the old unit.

I switched from iPhone 6s to iPhone 16e recently. No cables just the two phones sitting next to each other. I don't recall how long it took, but it definitely wasn't excessive.    It was sea

Gotta love apple for this same as computers. I can basically just ditch, break or lose any of my devices and get a random second hand or new one to recover in maybe 10-15 minutes or 1 hour for all fil

  • Thx for posting this.  After careful consideration (and from experience),  I just forgot all these "automated" methods and started manually from the beginning,  slowly, like 5 apps per day. (Toda

I bought a new Xiaomi, still have my old one so should be easy to do the switches....have a cable so even easier....

Google copies apps over easy enough but of course not in the same position as before, so they get a grade C

Google copies the files over, many are missing so i have to delete and copy manually, they get a grade D-

Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank smooth move, grade A.

Krungsri fails i have to go to branch, grade F

all the other logins, UK banks, shopping apps, everything, takes longer than last time.

Websites saved to home screen so look like apps all missing so i have to do manually, grade F for ignoring that requirement.

All in all it's a rubbish long winded process, not seamless at all, takes hours

As you said: it's a real headache.

How many apps do you think? and were they all in the same order as the older phone?

Two screenfuls of apps (~40-50). Yes, the screen and icon layout was fully preserved.

It must take about 10 minutes to re-arrange them on your new home screen.

More, and your elderly so a lot longer, then there's logging in each app

That's a win for Apple, still dislike them though

So why do you suggest that I am elderly, only 77. And started work in 1968 at ICL in Manchester.

I know this sounds like a wingnut conspiracy thing, but if they have all your settings, what's to stop them from selling them to a nefarious actor?

I know nothing about that company, but I've read horror stories about apps that do nefarious things.  Mostly weeded out by Google and Apple stores, but some have snuck through.

Changing phone gives a good reason to get rid of a lot of the apps you never use.
