The body of a foreign man was discovered on the morning of 14 May, on Kata Beach in Phuket, with a mysterious message found nearby written in the sand. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to aid in their investigation.

At approximately 06:05, Pol. Lt. Col. Ekkasak Khwanwan, an investigator at Karon Police Station, was alerted by a hotel security guard to the presence of a deceased foreign national found hanging near the beach. The officer promptly informed Pol. Col. Khundech Na Nongkhai, superintendent of Karon Police Station, who attended the scene with Pol. Lt. Col. Wiwat Chamnankit, deputy superintendent, forensic medical staff from Vachira Phuket Hospital, the Karon municipal rescue unit, and members of the Kusoldharm Foundation.

The body was found beneath a tree near the shoreline. The man was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and black trousers, and was barefoot. A plastic chair was found close by, along with a pair of brown sandals. Notably, the word “God” was found written in Nepali in the sand beside him.

Initial identification revealed the deceased to be Mr. Marike, a Nepalese national employed at a local tailor shop. He is believed to have died by suicide from hanging, at least three hours before his body was discovered.

A Nepalese colleague of the deceased reported that Mr. Marike had been suffering from financial difficulties, which may have led to his actions.

The body has been transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital where a forensic examination will be conducted to determine the precise cause of death, as authorities continue to investigate to insure there was no foul play involved.
