2. Non-residents of Thailand
If you stayed in Thailand for less than 180 days in the tax year, you were a non-resident of Thailand for tax
purposes. If you derived any income which is subject to Thai personal income tax and you meet the
conditions stated in 1. (1) and (2), you are required to file this return
Funnily enough they omit to define what income is/isn't subject to Thai personal income tax as a non-resident for tax purposes... unless they imply income subject to tax is the same as being tax resident which then makes no sense to distinguish both categories at all.
It was the same result for me in Nov '21. I took passport, bank book, Thai DL and residence certificate (COR) to the TRD office in Nong Hoi, CM. The COR I had was an extra one I asked for when I got one to open a bank account. All done in 20 minutes.
I guess this is why so many use WISE, because of the frequency of transfering and transactions. I do it only once it a year from my overseas bank for a larger amount and actually get a better rate than WISE - if I need to tap into the 800k here I think I have some leeway as long as it's back up to 800k by 3 months before new extension request (right?). Interesting WISE doesn't have much competition in that style of modality - XE used to do similar but stopped someone said. Don't know why.
