Oh well.

Thanks for sharing your emotional disorders with this forum..

Sounds like you're the only one unable to control your emotional issues, crying a river for a common criminal who knew what she was getting herself into. If you can't handle her demise, I suggest finding a safe place and have a long hard cry to make yourself feel better.

No sympathy for either of them. The risks are well known.

Two young lives ruined.

The selfie generation needing plenty of attention, which she got eventually.

When she is released from jail, she won't be good-looking anymore. Here is an article about Colombo's women's jail:
https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2011/7/25/sri-lankan-jails-hell-for-women

Drug traffickers should research what jails are like in the countries where they get caught and ask themselves: "Could I stand being jailed in this (hellhole) place for (20) years?"

Information is everywhere easily available, but those kind of people are not interested in educating themselves about facing possible consequences.

Why did they stop her at the Airport, she is only a mule, they could have tracked it to the end source, or will that have been embarrassing for the Sri Lankan government

Good point. Maybe because the powers in both countries know very well the people behind this and have threatened before that they want a cut of it - but still haven't received one. So these are messages to the multi-national gang doing this - we won't bust you but you need to pay.

Interesting that she was departing from Bangkok and they did not detect this sizable haul ?

i think they  knew  in bangkok. because its legal , there maybe no fine or a base for confiscating or other

seems more easy and efficent to inorm the police at  the arrival  destination , and less problems for thai authoritys

Interesting that she was travelling from Bangkok, just like the girl who did the same thing and was caught in Georgia.  Smuggling cannabis from Thailand is obviously big business. These two got caught, but presumably many get through.

Perhaps (but I have no real idea) Thai customs was tipped off and let her through. Possibly they tipped of Sri Lankan customs who nabbed her on arrival.

Good for both sets of customs officials, and good for inter country relationships as well.

Mules and what they carry are expendable and I have no doubt that there are plenty of both freely available.

She is now saying she has not got a clue how it ended up in her suitcases, somebody must planted it there when she went out from a drink the night before her flight,

Something seems off. Both young gals. Both not affected in Thailand. Both done in on their next arrival. How do large amounts get through initially?????????? Has to be impossible in this day and age to have that much go through an Airport. We really need to hear their side of the story.

Why?

Enjoy prison.  Freaking moron.  If she wanted to do stupid stuff to make money she should have opened an OnlyFans account.
Trafficking.  Just stupid.

I read the story.

1.  She was working on a Booze Cruise in Thailand on her 30-day tourist visa.  Illegal, I think, duh?

2. She packed her bags the night before and didn't check them before the early morning flight.  Didn't she think they were a bit heavy when she checked out of the hotel?

3. Food too spicy to eat.   Lucky she has food.

I was in Sri Lanka in the early 80s.  I was supposed to be there for 3 weeks.  After 5 days I made arrangements to get the heck out of that H-Hole, and I was a tourist staying in nicer hotels.  Good lucky honey.

Another scenario is that BKK detected the stuff and liaised with Colombo to inform them, so they could catch her at arrival (saving themselves all the hassle involved)

…and miss out on finger pointing photo op? Or huge brown envelopes in exchange for release? Doubtful.

Weight limit for luggage varies between 20kg and 30kg, depending on airlines. In order carry extra 46kg, she would have needed an extra luggage, or paying a massive overweight charge. How could she not notice it?

Charlotte May Lee, a 21-year-old former British air hostess from Coulsdon, South London, finds herself at the centre of a drug smuggling scandal after being apprehended at Colombo Airport, Sri Lanka. Lee was intercepted by customs officials carrying 46 kilogrammes of high-grade Kush cannabis, with an estimated street value of £1.5 million, in her luggage after a flight from Bangkok.

This sizeable haul, which officials have labelled as the largest Kush bust in the airport's history, was allegedly destined for affluent local consumers. Sri Lankan customs officers, alongside Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officials, are now delving deep into the origins and logistics of the consignment, suggesting organised crime involvement.

Charlotte, once a TUI cabin crew member and now a lash technician, had been celebrating her 21st birthday in Thailand in April with her sister from Australia. Following a brief return to the UK, Lee hinted at new job prospects abroad before posting beachside photos and travel snippets, culminating in her arrest at Colombo.

Her social media, rife with images of sunlit beaches and lively gatherings, painted the picture of a young woman enjoying her independence and travel, making the recent developments surrounding her arrest all the more startling for her peers and family. Friends describe her as a hardworking and joyful individual, expressing disbelief at her involvement in such a serious crime.

One friend shared their shock, noting: “Charlotte was a grafter. None of us saw this coming.” This sentiment echoes another close acquaintance who remembered spotting a woman with an English accent, resembling Lee, amidst footage of the arrest.

The UK’s Foreign Office has been quick to provide consular support, stepping in to liaise with Sri Lankan authorities and keeping in close contact with Charlotte's family. Her detention comes shortly after Bella May Culley, an 18-year-old from County Durham, faced arrest in Georgia under similar circumstances, suggesting a pattern of young Britons entangled in drug trafficking plots tied to Southeast Asia.

Charlotte Lee remains in custody as investigators seek to uncover the scope of this operation and determine her role. Her unexpected situation serves as a poignant reminder of the severe consequences associated with drug offences abroad, where laws are often far stricter than in the UK.

This unsettling development has left family, friends, and the broader community anxiously awaiting further information as the investigation continues. The stark reality now facing Charlotte is a far cry from the recent glamour of her travels and career aspirations, placing her future in uncertain waters.
