Quite a few do it because they are lazy and it can be good fun and lucrative.

 

Personally I admire those working in factories or or markets for a pittance. They prefer hard work over fun based sex work

I am knowing personally two pattaya prostitues.

They was mothers, with husbands and childreen.

They have had jobs. And a normal life, ín the village.

They went pattaya, for make their fortune.

Have got big money for selling their body, and have got a rich farsang, for long time support.

They was not send, or sell.

Very rare, whose are enforced into the prostitue business.

Thai people are thinking, that is a job.

This operation is to curb street prostitution only, which is made up of girls who have criminal convictions for violence or some illness. The trouble prostitutes. Given the recent spate of troublesome incidents this clean up was brought about by the very violent street prostitutes themselves.

Well, Pattaya will probably change in a not so distant future i would say. It's done its time and it's getting worn out. And, as Bob once said, "the times they are changing". And they are. Take a city like Paris. It was once considered "the Brothel of the world". Prostitution was everywhere and  a long-standing feature of Parisian life, with great visibility and integration into the leisure and tourism industries (of that time of course, between the 19th and first half of the 20th century). and then someone came, and ...(almost) gone...

The long-standing position of the Thai police is that prostitution does not exist in Pattaya because private arrangements between women and expats does not fit the definition of prostitution. If you insist on defining your own terms, suppose they have a point.

The sex trade district of Pattaya is run down, and  caters to the lower end of the farang pool; These are the last people the people staying at the convention and trade show hotels like Hilton, Intercontinental, Dusit Thani, Marriott, and Centara wish to  mingle with. Pattaya's  sex tourism district(s) are dying. The bars are  copies of each other, distinguished only by their degree of filth, Younger visitors  and  people who are  higher positioned in the social hierarchy do not want to sit around on uncomfortable stained chairs, having each footstep stick to an equally filthy floor as they walk to a urine reeking lav, while unpleasant music from the 1970's blares. Pattaya's  sex tourism model is outdated. It's future lies with the event  visitor segment.

I met a girl last week, small, petite, young 24-year-old, she had 3 children to different Thai fathers. This young woman was addicted to marijuana. She messaged me the other day, she asked if she could stay with me, She wanted to get off the Marijuana, she wanted me to help her find a better job. 

 

I picked her up, she stayed in one of the my condos for a couple of days. We spent the days together, we slept together. I bought her meals and we drank a few beers, I did not give her any money.

 

She told me her life story, very sad, 24yo, 3 children, she had taken almost every drug over the few years that she stayed in Pattaya. 

She made a lot of money, at times getting 10k baht for short time. 

 

She has now gone back to Isaan, to live with her mother and children, I hope she gets well.   

 

There are scammers out there and proper working girls, that's for another thread. I'm talking here about the many poor girls, from very poor families. 

 

Thailand needs the sex tourists, the government rely on the prostitute to generate income for the country, the government should give back to these poor young mothers, just a small amount of money each month, that would allow the mothers to stay home and take care of their babies. 

 

As I said earlier, I'm not here to convert the haters and those of you that have been burnt.
