A traditional rocket festival in Kalasin province took a dramatic turn when a skyrocket exploded, scattering fireballs and sending participants scrambling for safety. This annual event in northeastern Thailand is steeped in tradition, where villagers launch handmade rockets to invoke seasonal rains and compete for airtime longevity. Yet accidents, like the one on May 21, are not uncommon.

The incident was captured by TikTok user @pentor227, showing the critical moment when part of the team worked outside the safety zone while attempting to ignite the rocket. Amidst the chaotic scene that followed the explosion, festival-goers quickly moved to evade the fireballs.

Adding an unexpected twist to the chaos was an individual dressed in a green superhero costume. His rapid escape caught the attention of social media users, providing a humorous element to the serious scenario. The distinctive outfit stood out amidst the frantic movements, leaving viewers amused and the event memorable for reasons beyond the traditional celebration.

While the dramatic incident underscores the inherent risks of such traditional festivities, it also highlights a key aspect of community resilience and the lighter moments that can emerge even from unexpected situations. The festival continues to hold its cultural significance, reminding participants of both its traditional importance and the need for safety in its execution.
