Receiving International Transfers to Thailand – K-Bank Now Charging ฿100–฿150 per BahtNet Tr

Featured Replies

Just a heads-up—Kasikorn Bank (K-Bank) has started charging ฿100–฿150 per incoming international transfer. Most transactions have come via BahtNet, not SWIFT, and they’re still charging this fee per transaction.

The amount isn’t massive, but it adds up quickly if you’re receiving small and frequent payments, as many freelancers or remote workers do. Receiving larger lump sums is one option, but not always feasible or ideal.

I’ve looked into alternatives, but many Thai banks—especially smaller ones—don’t have SWIFT codes or simply don’t support international payments at all.

Anyone here using:

* A Thai bank with lower fees for BahtNet or international transfers?
* Fintech platforms like Wise, Revolut, or Payoneer to sidestep this?
* A foreign bank account or digital wallet that converts and forwards money to Thailand with fewer fees?

Would love to hear what’s worked for others dealing with similar payment structures.

Cheers.

Most people use Wise where you don't see that fee, Ive always seen that fee and higher for swift payments

That is very reasonable, my American bank charges $35 for incoming transfers. It's not unusual these days, as corporations continue to get greedier.

A combination of those. I have been using Google Pay with Revolut and WISE virtual debit cards. I like the security of the digital wallet, and the fact that this way the money never touches the Thai banking system. Now that I know that Thai banks may be charging the incoming transfers - another reason to keep doing that.

You can't use the digital wallet everywhere of course, but it covers purchases at the big stores.

Kasikorn (or an intermediate bank) used to charge a fee when I transferred with OFX. I now transfer through my Australian bank and SWIFT with no fees either end. But my transfers are larger and infrequent.

What do you complain; Bangkok Bank has been charging 400 Baht for years ........ for doing absolutely nothing! How nice is that?

Which Bank mate? I'm with National and use Wise for my monthly transfers of around $AU6,000. I have the option of doing a larger transfer every 3 months or so, perhaps I should look at using my bank. How much do you bring in each transaction?

Thanks.

Mate, it is the CBA and is something that only started in the last 8-9 months. Before that their exchange rate was terrible and they charged a fee for each transfer. They now give a better rate than OFX, usually about  0.2 baht below the XE mid rate.

My transfers are $20,000 when the AUD/THB rate is above 23-24 and $5-10,000 when I have to accept the current rates. If it ever gets to 24 again I will bring a lot more over as a gift to my wife.
