In a scene reminiscent of a superhero film, three men attempted a daring rooftop escape in Sakon Nakhon province, only to be arrested following a dramatic chase. On May 22, the trio was found sneaking into a largely unoccupied commercial building on Sakon-Nakae Road, leading to a tense pursuit by police and rescue workers.

The escapade began when a vigilant local reported seeing three men climbing onto the roof of a five-unit commercial building in That Cheing Chum subdistrict, Mueang district. Responding promptly, the Mueang Sakon Nakhon Police, along with the Metta Tham Foundation rescue team, arrived to assess the situation.

Upon reaching the scene, authorities discovered that the building was mostly empty, apart from a grocery store. An unlocked sliding door provided access to the rooftop. Quickly, police persuaded one of the suspects to surrender peacefully. However, the other two men seized the opportunity to flee, navigating the rooftops and scaling fences in a bid to escape.

One of the men made a precarious attempt to descend from the third floor to the second, eventually contemplating a jump from the roof. However, he too was convinced to give himself up. The final suspect found himself trapped on the rooftop and surrendered without further resistance.

The suspects, identified as 34-year-old Tom, 23-year-old Anuwat, and 49-year-old Sawang, were engaged in light-hearted banter while being taken away. One quipped about how they almost succeeded in their escape due to an affinity for Spider-Man films, but ultimately feared the consequences of a failed jump.

Ko, a nearby witness aged 36, played a pivotal role by offering water and alcohol to persuade one suspect to come down. Sittichai Chaksuchinda, a rescue officer, described the scene as chaotic, with suspects darting across rooftops before their eventual detention.

Thankfully, no items were reported stolen during the attempted escape. The building owner was contacted, and the three men now face charges of joint trespassing. Police confirmed that no drugs were involved in the incident, bringing a dramatic but safe conclusion to what could have been a more dangerous situation.
