Popular Post snoop1130 Posted May 27 Popular Post Posted May 27 Photo via TikTok/ @tumroychannal A foreign woman visiting Phuket was arrested over the weekend following her failure to settle a bill at a local bar. The incident, reportedly involving insulting remarks about Thai people, was captured and shared by a Thai TikTok user under the handle @tunroychannel, sparking local attention. The event unfolded at the Nine Smith entertainment venue in Phuket's Talat Yai sub-district. According to the video caption, the woman ordered food and drinks but could not pay, citing a stock market crash and failed bank withdrawals as reasons for her inability to settle the bill. With no resolution in sight, staff contacted officers from Mueang Phuket Police Station, who then arrived on the scene. The woman was escorted to the police station for further questioning, where she persisted in her claim of being able to pay but failed to secure funds even after two hours. In recorded footage, an officer can be heard expressing frustration, “You don’t have money. Two hours, and you still cannot pay it. You don’t have money for sure! Go, go!” As the officers attempted to escort her to a detention area, she resisted. The TikTok user accused the woman of insulting Thai people, although the video did not capture any specific instances of this alleged behaviour, nor were details provided. Legal repercussions for the woman remain unspecified. However, Thai law under Section 345 states that individuals who knowingly consume food or drinks without the means to pay may face up to three months in jail, a fine of up to 5,000 baht, or both. The incident underscores potential cultural misunderstandings and legal implications faced by tourists who visit without adequate financial preparation. The situation also highlights the importance of respecting local customs and obligations to avoid legal entanglements. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Thaiger 2025-05-27 17

Most likely they did not. As i saw it she was aggressive and uncooperative with them and you never lay hands on a police officer as it can easily be construed as an assault. The woman clearly deserves detention and then booted out of the country for failing to have funds to support her stay in Thailand. 5
Quentin Zen Posted May 28 Posted May 28 the video is marginal, at best. So I need to use my BRAIN instead. 1. She ate, drank, likely enjoyed herself. 2. Didn't pay. 3. Didn't pay so that the police showed up. 4. Didn't pay. 5. Taken by police. 6. TWO hours she didn't pay. 7. Two hours!!!! 8. maybe now the video. i can only think of one friend i would text and ask to pay for me. but I do have a VISA with my bank, card in case i had no cash and no internet to scan. money is everything. always. always keep an extra 2 million and a few 5 baht chains just in case. no money, on "vacation", that spells jail. I tried showing them the email from a Nigerian prince......didn't work. 1 1 2 2

stupidfarang Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Police say two hours talking with her, they had enough of the crap, off to jail. 1
Popular Post Kandinski Posted May 28 Popular Post Posted May 28 If they actually tried for 2 hours to persuade her to pay her bills their patience are outstanding and totally unparalleled to the so called "civilized" world. 2 1

And what about just take her passport as guarantee for the payment? It cuold be really a problem connection to the app. It happens in Thailand when the bank update the system. Police act rudely because she isn't American or British but she may have much more money than most of us 1 4 2
