Ukrainian Dies After Fall from Phuket Villa Rooftop Pool

A 28-year-old Ukrainian woman has died following a fatal fall from the rooftop pool terrace of a luxury villa in Chalong, Phuket, in the early hours of the morning of 31 May.

 

The victim, identified as Ms Veronika, was rushed to Chalong Hospital shortly after the incident but was pronounced dead at 04:28.

 

According to statements provided to Chalong Police, Ms Veronika had been drinking on the rooftop pool, with two friends, a fellow Ukrainian national and a Thai citizen and at approximately 03:30 the incident occurred.

Witnesses told police that she appeared intoxicated and had been walking close to the edge of the rooftop swimming pool when she lost her footing and fell to the ground below. Emergency services were contacted immediately and she was transported to hospital, but could not be saved.

 

Officers from Chalong Police Station have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances of the fall. Authorities are conducting a detailed forensic examination of the villa and have transferred the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a post-mortem.

 

The Ukrainian Embassy has been notified.
