I've got a Samsung EO-42K fan oven. Had it about five years. Only use it for bread and reheating pizza.

Because many use outside cooking techniques .....

Dishwashers are few also....I doubt there's any trash compactors around either.....

I have an automatic dishwasher.

That's interesting.  All my inlaws are/were (RIP) great cooks and not one had an oven.  Even my SIL who lived in US for years didn't use one.

Do your inlaws cook Thai food in your oven?  Do they cook food from central Thailand?  All my relatives lived Bangkok, Ayuthya and Chachengsao were central cuisine reigns.

My Thai wife, here in the U.S. of A. figured out how to use an oven on her own.  She bakes hams, turkeys, pizza (who can't?) brownies, cupcakes, cakes, and several other foods that requires ovens to cook in.  Wife is also a  very good Thai food cook.

In many ways my wife is a better cook than her sister, who also cooks up western meals for her husband (more than my wife does for me), bakes stuff in her oven but likes using a hot air cooker, and is also a good Thai cook.

For the same reason the women will sleep with you for 2000 Baht.

Because their kitchens are too small?

That's why I didn't have an oven in Thailand.  Not enough counter space, either.

Please let me know if you are satisfied with your electric table top oven. I plan on making my own bread and cakes and need an oven that can reach temps of 250 C or as close to it as possible. I don’t know what brands are good. I trust your personal experience over blogs.

Thank you very much.

To get the best bread, you should consider a regular built in oven. Brands like Häffele and Electrolux will do the job.

I bought one of those regular owens (around 5K baht) and it is good enough for making bread and cakes! But it lacks, as usual, the temp. to make Pizza! I can do it, but it takes "for ever" and its not the right crust.

Sorry, that should be SHARP, not Samsung. Too late to edit.

I had the same oven, it was great.

Why make bread but only re-heat pizza? pizza dough freezes great.

Get an aluminum pizza pan.

If pizza in oven, and without a steel, it takes for ever and results are very iffy.

Now I have a pizza size skillet, and crisp the bottom up on the stovetop, then stick under the top element (broiler), almost touching, on high, for a few minutes, till cheese starts to 'char'.  Excellent results, but need to pay attention, as will go from perfect to burnt real fast.

One reason I like the Electrolux oven, has 5 tray slots, very high & low, if needing, along with 3 mid oven.

I cook mine on the grill tray, so it's cooked from above and below.

After pulling out all the solid trays.

I just bought an OTTO TO - 772 to replace my table top oven which finally died of old age and the heating bars died as well old oven was about 4 or 5 years old which from Makro for a little over 4,000 back then.

The new one was 3.379 thb including COD from Lazada and was delivered in 3 days.

It is a 60 litre oven and can be used for baking and roasting and there is even a spit for roasting a chicken, should you wish.

Why do Thais not have a built-in oven

Perhaps they have no use for one. I offered to buy one for my wife, but she doesn't cook roast dinners or bake bread etc, and when she saw the price she just laughed and walked on by.

I made pizza when I first bought it but can't be bothered getting all the toppings and sauce when I can easily get one delivered. Decent bread ,on the other hand, is hard to come by locally.

You'll need an oven with a fan and preferably with water injection. The open heating elements in many ovens are no good, its radiation heat not convection. To be sure to obtain 250 C, better have an oven that reaches 300C; also best for pizza.

I bought mine from a Thai company though the oven was made in China. Check out Ali for price deals. No import tax from China..

I've been thinking about getting a breadmaker here in Thailand. The one time I tried baking bread in an oven back in the UK, it was a total disaster 😅. I ended up buying a Panasonic breadmaker (I think it was Panasonic anyway), and it was so much easier just threw in the ingredients and it came out better than store-bought bread.

Newbie question: is using a breadmaker generally better, or does baking in the oven have its own advantages? I honestly have no idea.

Oven has it all over a breadmaker, but IMO, you need a good mixer with a dough-hook, or it's a lot of work.

That's a pretty impressive setup, almost like a pro kitchen. Are you or were you a professional chef? I've read a lot of your posts about food, breakfasts and all that really good stuff. And thanks again for the low-cal cheesecake suggestion earlier! 😊

Even BritMan can 'cook' bread, LOL. No tan must be typical Brittish. Sorry BritMan, just kidding.

Never a pro chef, just been cooking for myself, for as long as I can remember.  Though have to admit, YT really help me fine tune techniques and doing it proper.

I dined out a lot, in the USA.  Probably 50% if not 75% of meals.  Here it's 90% in home.

The right tools help doing anything.  Really like cast iron.  Use 1 stainless steel for boiling water, and another small teflon sauce pan, for sauces.  That's about it, have a bunch of other pots & pans I don't use.
