Wo, wo,wo: first I don't complain about nothing: I just ask how someone can live in this situation. Is not my business and I know that: was just a question. He doesn't live near my place of work, but near where I live...and I don't live in Sriracha.

It can be numerous reason why and how you will find yourself on overstay. I overstayed a few months more than a decade ago, was arrested outside a shopping mall in Bangkok, and ended up at IDC. Spent 2 weeks there before I could buy my own ticket home.

I even wrote about it on this forum, and got a lot of comments.

 

My reason was that I was scammed by my ex girlfriend, and found myself almost without money during these months. While I was getting more money sent to me from Europe for my ticket, I was arrested before I could leave on my own.

 

These things could happen to anyone. Don't judge the book by its cover. Not all of us has backup, and some of us might use some time to recover from whatever happened to us. 

 

Laziness, or overstaying on purpose, is a complete different thing, and I don't understand that at all. Some also shouldn't be here if they don't have enough money for it in the first place.

I won't disagree with that, but we all do mistakes. Mine was my blind trust to my gf, and not having enough backup funds.

How about you read my reply with more humor, more empathy, or maybe you didn't understand my sarcasm? Don't be so thin-skinned. Of course, if someone needs help, I'll give it. In fact, I know people who are in difficult situations, much more difficult than an overstay. But don't forget that problems are usually sought out, they don't come to you.

I went to Golden Jubilee a couple weeks ago. I showed them my appointment slip and that was the end of it. If I lose the slip, I tell them my name, and they look it up.

But what is your problem? I just ask a question. Who ever wrote that i want to create problems for him. I didn't even know he existed, until he came to me. I don't understand why you accuse me of enjoying the misfortune of others, when it is not so. As much as I could, I helped him.

Thats interesting....   Thought I wonder why, as its far outside of a hospitals remit to check for Immigration status ?

 

So I wonder what this is for....    for residential hospital stays (and TM28 reporting) ???

 

 

... and what happens if a tourist turns up with a broke leg ? - is the hospital going to turn the tourist away to go home and get their passport ?

 

I suspect, this has more to do with simply 'proving ID' for billing purposes and mitigating flight risk.

Would be annoying if you go to a hospital far far away without your passport and they ask for it, check before travel I guess

As far as I know you have always have to show your passport at a Thai hospital. Speaking having been in various hospitals over the last 35 years. I presume it is to stop you doing a runner or any number of reasons.

I do not believe I have ever had to show my passport at a Thai hospital, and since I moved here, I have never carried my passport.

Yup - obviously travel outside of province without your passport is ill advised...

 

However, I'll be very surprised IF in Bangkok, I turn up at a hospital I'm already registered at and they ask for my passport.

 

This might be a localised Bangkok Pattaya Hospital policy required instigated with a degree of xenophobia, perhaps due to an increased incidence of foreigners 'bill dodging' ????

 

I still can't see that it has anything to do with immigration status - rather it purely about Patient Identification.

Usually you register with your passport (or copy perhaps) then you get a hospital ID card and you use that going forward, BPH as an example have said they don't accept that anymore

 I hadn't heard about this requirement, but if you have been to the hospital before and have a patient ID card I doubt they would ask for your passport.
