To make this short. As being a swede, we have still our income-letter issued by our embassy.

And in case I do not have 800.000B in yearly income I can make a "combo" with money in the

bank in order to come "up" to 800K. I need to have this extra money in my account 3 months

before applying.

We have now sad to say, heard some signals from the embassy that they maybe intend to to

stop issuing these letters, and go to sleep completely. So if this happens we swedes are in the

very situation as you english, americans and australians, I guess....

So my question is in order for me to be prepared for the worst. Let me give an example. If I have monthly transfers (my pension) into my bankaccount amounting to 40.000B meaning that I miss about 320K baht

in order to reach the 800K for retirement-extension.

Can I use these 40.000B every month and add on 320B in my bank-account and make a so called

combo. Are you guys allowed to do that??

Sorry this post became very long.

Yes you can.

Personally suggest 400k in the bank if possible.

You also need to check with your immigration office as some reluctant to allow combination method however immigration rules certainly allow it

Some discussion here.

Thank you so much, that gives us swedes at least an alternative IF they stop

this income-letter. Great

My Immigration accept the combo method, but their interpretation of the orders are that a minimum of 400K deposited funds in a Thai bank must be maintained throughout the year, the remainder of the required 800K to be provided by proof of 12 x monthly overseas transfers.

12 x 35K monthly transfers would be enough.

If you haven't already started making monthly transfer to your Thai bank account, I suggest you start.

When the UK, US and Australian Embassies stopped issuing income letters, Immigration sent an instruction to all offices to show leniency to those affected.

Although not all offices showed any leniency in the event. Certainly mine (Rayong) did not, and it was only by pure luck and chance that I had already been making the required number of monthly 65k transfers for my next retirement extension application.

It is to be hoped for the OP's and his compatriots' sake that, if and when, the Swedish Embassy do decide to stop their income confirmation service, they will provide a clear year's advance notice of this change, in the same way as their Norwegian counterparts did recently (but, alas, the Canadian Embassy did not, resulting in Canadians who had previously been reliant on Embassy income confirmation letters being presumably driven into the arms of agents).
