It's not Cambodia. It's you.  You morally judge so many others - acting like being American is special - but live in Cambodia with what most who you admire would say is a questionable lifestyle - some

Cambodia is an absolute cesspit, a bottom-of-the-barrel wasteland where civilization went to die. It’s a lawless sewer overrun by petty criminals, conmen and fugitive rejects from China. The place ooz

  • Yeah Im a patriotic American that understands how Socialism works. Thats the issue with folks who support things like the Biden administrations policies. So I guess its out there, poor Cambodia is jus

Must piss you off that I can afford to live in more than one country and not in Mommys basement

Oh dear, looks like I touched a nerve......

I thought anyone could afford to live in Cambodia.....🤗

Plus, my mum never had a basement, and she's been gone 16 years.......😢

$50 steaks are probably $30 in Siem Reap , and a 2,000 Baht bottle of wine the same.

Years ago I used to bring back a case of Kangeroo Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from  the old lady in the booze shop, opposite the daytime market, for $48 a case. For that price I could only have bought 2 bottles in Thailand.

Well I never! What a surprise, that is where I get my booze from, A litre bottle of Gordon's Gin costs me 12 US$ (just under 400 baht) or a litre bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin at 16 US$ (524 baht)

You will be gone soon. Sad old fart. Ubon is so boring I'd drop dead of boredom :cheesy:

I don't live in a Soi, I live on the edge of a lake, with no neighbours either side of our house..........🤭

Nice outside at the mo, sitting at my desk watching the water rippling by through my French doors. That reminds me, must cut the lawn tomorrow, weather permitting.....😉

At least you are familiar with the term loser, as you have to live with it daily, poor chappy..😁

I don't doubt that, as you crave to get back on the PC to carry on your daily nonsense, eh...........🤥...........:clap2:

Yet you will claim you're a wine connoisseur?

You must be a Yank to post that cr4p .

As a non eine drinker you would be wise to hold your mouth shut rather than display your ignorance. If you think buying Cabernet Sauvignon represents in anyway relates to someone being a connoisseur only serves to highlight your nationality.

Proud thick American!

You do a disservice to my many wine drinking American friends.

Well considering that cheap wine drinkers are usually bums, I didnt want to offend you. You must be a Londoner, no Brits I know drink wine.

I do acknowledge that as a Yank your knowledge of the outside world is very limited but FYI London is not only in Britain is is also the Capital city.

More proof of Americanism....putting words in other people's mouths.

Would you care to show me I actually said that I was better than anybody?

You are correct - but by default.

I'm in Chiang Mai.

Go to Ging Grai

absolutely the best pad Thai I ever ate anywhere. The whole menu is good.

There’s a great 99 baht Curry place around the corner. That’s probably your speed too.

I spent two weeks in Ubon. It has a bit of a downtown, unlike most Issan towns.

The Ubon Hotel is a brutalist masterpiece. They have a few great concrete monstrosities from the 60s still standing up too and that beautiful lake with the temples around it in the middle of town.

Definitely look at Mark Wiens checking out the chicken and cashew restaurant downtown. Supposedly, this dish was invented in Ubon. The chicken and cashew nut restaurant near the airport is a little bit better.

It would be a great girlfriend place. I do not see it as a single guy place.

I bent over backwards to like Cambodia, but it seems poor and in a way that even Myanmar and Laos do not. The people seem depressed. Fish Amok is the most underwhelming dish in all of Southeast Asian cuisine.

I liked Kampot, for about two days. The pepper from there is my third favorite kind of black pepper on earth, after Indo and Ponchendary from India.

I would liken Cambodia compared to Thailand like Mexico compared to New Mexico. It’s the poorer version Of an already poor thing.
