Electric Vehicles in Thailand
I'm assuming in the middle of the chart that the 2,013 registration is for Jan 2024 reflecting end of 2023 sales/promotions finally getting registered in Jan 2024. If correct it appears starting in early 2024 Neta fortunes turned south quickly with only 216 registrations in Feb 2024. Made "some" recovery thru 2024 but really didn't approach the much better sales year of 2023 with registrations only reaching 985 in Jan 2025 from end of 2024 sales/promotions. And then registrations fell to 288 in Feb 2025 and are trending downwards since a lot of bad news about Neta's financial problems started hitting the Chinese and Thai media. When I see a Neta on the road now I feel kinda sorry for the owner as the owner is surely worried if his/her Neta is going to lose support and more value in the near future. Based on what I reading in newspapers quite a few Neta owners have their vehicles in a shop awaiting parts/repair/warranty support that may or may not come any time soon although Neta is saying it's new Parts Distribution Center in Nakhon Pathom will help the situation. Is that a new tech ? The tech is already there... the legal framework is the complicated issue. For example: look at your SatNav in some countries (i.e. UK) and it knows immediately when we cross into a 30pmh zone (on the display)... There are complexities of course (imagine going down a motorway at 70mph, and the car crosses under a 30mph road bridge... but that can easily be programmed out. Ultimately - its similar to 'driverless taxis' - the tech is already there, the legal framework isn't.
