I must be off my rocker then. Because of the heat, when I'm outside in the garden, I often pour water over myself to cool down. How am I going to tell my 26 cats that a madman is looking after them? ... Oh no! I feel another urge coming on to pour water over myself ..... 26 cats to look after, definitely a madman.....
Photoguy21 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Is the German Embassy involved and if not why not? 1

If the locals are so concerned, maybe they could have a whip round to pay for his damaged leg, or maybe they just don't want him dying on the street creating a foul odor and driving potential tourists away. Infestation? Do you mean metazoan ectoparasites? You're not talking about humans, do you?

IsaanGuy Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Maybe time the German embassy gets involved before he becomes another statistic. Unfortunately if they’re as helpful as the UK embassy I wouldn’t raise my hopes! 1
Issanraider Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Presumably immigration have checked his visa status but no mention of that in the article. if he is on retirement extension of stay it infers that he has the required funds to stay here and accordingly can afford to pay for medical treatment 1

The OP reports that his documentation is in order so how could he be deported?

An extension of stay does not infer anything, it does imply that he should have had funds at some stage, though. It doesn't imply that those funds last forever, particularly if he has ongoing expenses
Reddavy Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago 23 hours ago, snoop1130 said: Photo via Facebook courtesy of Phuket Times ภูเก็ตไทม์ Residents in Rawai sub-district of Mueang district, Phuket, are expressing deep concern for a German man who has been visibly sleeping on the streets with a severe leg injury for several days. This plea for assistance comes as locals have repeatedly observed him on the roadside near Chalong Intersection, evidently lacking adequate food and basic necessities. A serious wound on his right leg shows troubling signs of decay, sparking fears that his health could rapidly deteriorate. Pictures of the man were circulated via the Phuket Times Facebook page on 8th June, as community members urged local media to highlight the situation in order to prompt action from government officials. Despite the severity of his condition, previous attempts by some passersby to offer food and assistance were met with refusal, adding complexity to the situation. Local accounts indicate that the man has a history in the region—previously living in the Karon area of Phuket. Police have reportedly engaged with the man before, taking him to his embassy, but he refused consular help, resulting in his continued street dwelling. His behaviour towards those offering help has been described as inappropriate, deterring further personal intervention from some individuals. Additionally, there are claims from a Thai woman, who wishes to stay anonymous, alleging that the man has defrauded several local businesses, including hotels and car rental services, with her loss amounting to 4,000 baht. Despite complaints filed with the police, no concrete actions have been taken so far. Interestingly, another local, Pornwilai Chaipakdee, recounts a recent conversation where the man claimed to have a Thai wife and assured he did not lack essentials, also stating possession of a motorcycle and valid travel documents—though he refused to provide proof, showing only a doctor's appointment slip. His observed tendency to beg for money, purportedly to buy beer, further complicates the residents’ sympathy and understanding of his situation. There are growing concerns about the man's mental health, as noted by locals witnessing unusual behaviour such as him pouring water over himself. Despite repeated pleas for intervention, there has been no official response or action from governmental authorities to help resolve the situation or provide necessary support. The community's efforts to bring attention to this matter highlight significant underlying issues of concern, including mental health awareness, social safety nets, and support for foreign nationals in distress. A comprehensive response from local authorities could ensure not only the man's well-being but also address residents' calls for action to peacefully resolve ongoing community issues. Wasted time to keep him here True, what about his visa status, not mentioned,, German embassy should be arranging for him to be taken home, just goes to show embassies don't care about citizens, something is wrong with his mental health, obviously.
