Sure.  If you can afford it.  More and more of the middle class are figuring out that they can't.  They're bugging out for Florida, Texas and Nevada.  Replaced by illegals.  Who are a net drain on the state's resources.  But they're expected to vote Blue, so it's all good.

Watching the riots in LA and it's sad.  Sad that one side feels justified to assault police officers (using Jan 6 as an excuse for now) and the other side (some) would like to kill the protestors.

Clearly, these protests are identical to the BLM protests early on.  Started by people (perhaps misguided) against perceived police brutality but infiltrated by thugs and paid instigators.  I don't want to harm ANY peaceful protestors but would love to see those blocking freeways, destroying property and committing violence arrested and prosecuted.

And I have mixed feelings about the massive ICE raids.  Yeah, the ones going after criminal gang members I am all for.  And I don't care if they get shipped to some foreign nation whose prison facilities aren't so nice.  But, I feel for the ones who are in fact here illegally trying to keep their heads down, earn a living and send some cash home.  I wish the issue wasn't so politicized.

I do know I watched a team of about 8 guys work in my yard the last two days in 100 degree weather installing a new irrigation system and planting some cacti and an orange tree.  Nary a one except the main dude could speak English.  I'd bet they don't have papers and Id' bet my costs would have been double if I had to hire American born labor.

Sucks that our politicians haven't been better at legally vetting decent people who want to come here and work.  Instead, 4 years of an open border flooded us with criminal elements forcing draconian raids and sweeps to clean up the mess.

Whatever.  Rambling I guess.  Good scotch does that.  Wish the decent ones could be left alone along with the decent protestors.  And I wish the gang bangers and paid violent rioters would all be infested with the fleas of a thousand camels.

Here’s the fact:

Trump did not offer the National Guard, Pelosi did not refuse the National Guard.

Pelosi took responsibility. Period.  That we should be able to agree on.

•Illegal day labourers•... why do you guys constantly leave out the word 'llegal'. No legal immigrants or US citizens are being targetted. Stop with the lies.

Actually it was a raid on a business whose owner was doing money laundering and tax evasion.   Then the riots bagan- suspiciously well organized and well equipped.

Which in turned threatened federal workers and facilities, necessitating the National Guard.  If the LARPing lefties had just left law enforcement alone to do their legal duties, none of this would have happened.

LA’s top cop blames masked professional ‘anarchists’ for chaos at ICE protests and vows slew of arrests

The chief of the Los Angeles Police Department is promising that the number of arrests made at the protests roiling Los Angeles will “pale in comparison” to current numbers, as violent clashes continue to spin “out of control.”

Jim McDonnell blasted hooded “anarchists” who, he said, intend to cause mayhem and try to “get away with whatever they can,” at odds with the intentions of other peaceful protesters.

Gosh....  And I got called out for suggesting that some of the agitators were paid shills. (Something along the lines of of "post evidence or piss off...  Which I thought was pretty rude)

Gotta kind of wonder who's paying when they have trucks delivering cases of Uvex Bionic Face Shields to the middle of the scrum.

The military are not trained to manage civil disorder. The US Marines are combat trained, and should not be used as general police. The training the police and the military have is very different. The police are trained for  measured use of force.  The military doesn't want this, nor need the problems it will bring.  The civilian police force is best suited for managing and controlling the unrest.

It will be a  national tragedy if the  military fires on  civilians.

Maybe, but you use the resources you have.  Not the ones that you wish you had.

Obama legally deported 3.2 million undocumented immigrants—quietly, without cruelty, violence, or turning it into a media circus.

Trump’s LA raids, on the other hand, have involved Marines, flash-bangs, mass arrests, and wall-to-wall news coverage since June 6, 2025.

It’s hard not to see it as a planned distraction from:

• His messy breakup with Musk and renewed accusations of being Epstein’s wingman
• Mounting criticism over the Big Ugly Bill
• His failure to deliver peace in Ukraine on day one
• A missed 90-day deadline for tariff deals—UK only signed a MOU.
• Xi tightening his grip on rare earths while outplaying him on trade
• Rising living costs and recession warnings tied to his tariff policies

Take your pick.

I contacted someone in Maryland (whose mother I know) that hires protestors.  He told me I could be paid $45.00 an hour and could give me a contact if I go out there.

THat is a good question, not sure about the answer. When I was in the Armed Forces in Canada, one of the duties we were trained for was called "aid to civil power". This covered everything from helping in natural disasters to civil unrest. In practical terms, it meant helping old people shovel out their driveways after blizzards.... but we DID get trained in how to operate in urban areas during civil disorder.

As for the US Army and National Guard, YMMV.

Perhaps the answer lies with LA Major, one square mile of downtown under curfew

Or maybe it's just because ODS wasn't a thing.

It's trump claiming anarchists are paid protesters without any evidence whatsoever. If the claim is true one would think the FBI would have already arrested them / financiers.

Possibly so, but how many law enforcement / riot police are deployed. Surely it doesn't take thousands, of US law enforcement people; are they that feeble?

Obviously now, Trump’s own derangement is the thing.

It seems like the LAPD chief agrees with him.

Give the FBI a little time.  They'll figure out who paid for the cases of UVEX Bionic Face Shields that were delivered by pickup to the middle of the kerfuffle.

Sure... if that were true it would be worse. but since most people already know it is not true and it was just amplified by the Dems, it really is only a black mark against the democratic party and leadership.

Here's a breakdown of the authority for deploying the National Guard during the January 6th events:
  • The President (or his designate) ultimately has the authority to deploy the D.C. National Guard. In this case, the authority was delegated to the Secretary of the Army.
  • The Capitol Police Board has the authority to request National Guard assistance. This board is comprised of the House Sergeant at Arms, the Senate Sergeant at Arms, and the Architect of the Capitol.
  • The Capitol Police Board initially decided against calling the Guard before the insurrection but did request assistance once the riot began.
  • D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser also requested aid from the National Guard.
In summary: While Pelosi, as House Speaker, and then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell were part of the process through their appointments to the Capitol Police Board, they did not have the direct authority to deploy the National Guard. The final decision rested with the President or his designated representative within the Department of Defense.

How nice of Trump to give pardons to all those antifa "plants"....

So you and the other leftists are complaining that he did not send troops to quell a right-wing riot.

Now, you and the other leftists are complaining that he sent troops to quell a left-wing riot. That about it?

Hypocrisy, thy name is lefty.
