Pattaya Drug Bust Uncovers Major Narcotics Stash

In a decisive strike against illicit drug activities in Pattaya, undercover police arrested two suspected drug dealers found in possession of a substantial stash of narcotics. The swift operation, conducted by Chon Buri Provincial and Pattaya City police, targeted individuals believed to be distributing class-A drugs to the city's youth.

Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officers staged a sting operation outside a condominium on South Pattaya Road around 5 pm on June 10. This led to the arrest of 31-year-old Burin “Oat” Pholwiwat and 36-year-old Chatchawan “Boy” Wongthong as they attempted to deliver a drug parcel.

Under the directive of Police Major General Thawatchai Jindakuansanong, Chon Buri Police Commander, and Pol. Col. Chatree Suksiri, Deputy Commander, follow-up raids were conducted at two properties in Samut Prakan. These locations included a residence in Ban Eua Arthorn Mueang Mai Bang Phli and a rented room in Theparak Soi 7, Bang Sao Thong.

The raids uncovered a significant cache of illicit substances, including:

  • 3,915 grammes of crystal methamphetamine (ice).
  • 300 grammes of ketamine.
  • 7,000 methamphetamine pills.
  • Drug-packaging equipment, such as scales and zip-lock bags.
  • A modified blank gun and six live .38 bullets.

During their interrogation, the suspects admitted to distributing drugs on behalf of an unidentified supplier, acting under instructions regarding drop-off locations for the narcotics.

The suspects now face multiple charges, including:

  • Possession and distribution of Category 1 and 2 narcotics for commercial purposes.
  • Illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
  • Carrying a weapon in public without a valid reason.
  • Driving under the influence of methamphetamine.

The pair have been handed over to Pattaya City Police for further legal proceedings.

This operation took place just hours before another significant crackdown on the local youth drug scene, where Bang Lamung district officials raided six shops selling kratom-laced 4×100 brews. Led by District Chief Patcharapat Sritanyanon and Deputy Kamphrai Laosaen, the raid resulted in the seizure of over 2,000 bottles of the banned concoction.

Chief Patcharapat issued a stern warning, stating, "We won’t tolerate this. Anyone producing or selling 4×100 drinks will be arrested and prosecuted. No exceptions."

Pattaya's law enforcement has sent a clear message: they will not stand by while drugs endanger the city's youth, aiming to dismantle any operations that contribute to this illicit market.
