Dutch Embassy Sale Sparks Debate in Bangkok

You don't need a palace with astronomical high maintenance costs but an effective, modern embassy. Maybe in a business center with parking facilities and public transport.

Also, I didn't mention any connection between Thailand and Netherland but reminded of Netherlands History, which is connected with slavery, exploitation, murder.

The  Netherlands consular services operate from a modern building adjacent to the old Ambassador's residence and office which is shown in the photo.  It is not easy to find an accessible location with parking facilities in Bangkok. Your requirement  necessitates a large urban garage. Terrorists love  underground parking garages.  Safety protocols recommend that public parking be away from the  offices and residence.

The current location is proximate to 2  BTS stations and is 1 km away from Chit Lom BTS or Phloen Chit BTS. Parking is available at one of the proximate hotels or at the shopping center on Phloen Chit Road. One cannot get better than this in Bangkok.

Yes, the Netherlands has  some history that today we find reprehensible. Unfortunately, during that same period,  Other Europeans were slicing people up alive and then  hanging them up in public squares, the rack, the iron Maiden, the Inquisition etc.  The Chinese had their public torture of slicing pieces of flesh off of someone, the death by a thousand cuts death. Native peoples in the Pacific and Americas were torturing and eating their enemies, and Africans were chopping each other up.  Sadly, every culture also practiced slavery, and exploitation. Humans are not very nice. The wars between Burma and Thailand and the Khmers was not  culture  sharing and a celebration of shared values. It was rape, pillaging, torture, destruction and death.

Well, it's not about other Europeans, or Chinese or aliens.

That's the typical blame game.

It's about Netherland.

Anyway, according to your description it would be appropriate to have an office in a location described by me.

Concerning terrorists....really??

You will probably rather get COVID than to be killed by terrorists.

You are the one singling out the Netherlands history. I only pointed out that  it is no worse than any other.

You dismiss the exposure of  parking garages and bombs, but the reality is that the reason, the likelihood of bombing is lower now is because consulates do not create the opportunity for terrorism. You are deluded if you do not  accept that opportunistic terrorists  are circulating. The Dutch are still a target.

The current Netherlands facility satisfies all of your parameters and is most likely more cost effective than  relocating in to a big office tower that is not secure and not convenient for anyone. The real issue is that the Netherlands government wants to  cash in on an  asset because it needs money fast. it's like the old  aristocracy who started selling off their land to maintain their  excessive lifestyle. What needs to be done is to cut expenses at home.
