When I lay down at night I start panting in my sleep ,it’s related to apnea but not as bad, investigations are ongoing on how to proceed ,

my dad suffered with apnea but he was a welder but didn’t smoke ,when he retired from welding at 75 his apnea didn’t seem to be a problem any more , anyone else have orthopnoea ?

I need 5 pillows at night, it’s a minor problem tho

In many cases the reason is a cardiovascular health issue or a lung issue like COPD. Even obesity could be a problem.

Treatments available. Doctor visit recommended

Looking up the definition, it seems worse than apnea. It speaks of heart failure.

"It often arises from fluid accumulation in the lungs due to heart failure, where the weakened heart struggles to pump blood effectively, leading to increased pressure in the pulmonary vessels." (orthopnoea meaning - AI Overview from googling).

Tests are ongoing with CT scan tomorrow to investigate , I have an oxygen cylinder for the night time but it doesn’t seem to make much difference ,so I have to rise from my bed early to put things right
