A domestic dispute ended in tragedy when a man shot his sister-in-law dead on the steps of her home following a family argument about cooking duties for his mother.

 

The incident occurred on 22 June, in Ban Khlong Mod Daeng, Khlong Lan District, Kamphaeng Phet province. Local police and rescue services were called to the scene after reports of gunfire at a stilted wooden house in Village 3 of Pong Nam Ron subdistrict.

 

Officers found the lifeless body of 53-year-old Mrs Nitaya lying in a pool of blood at the foot of the house’s staircase. She had suffered multiple shotgun wounds to the right arm, chest and left side of her face. A shotgun and two spent shells were recovered at the scene.

 

The alleged shooter, Mr Asia, 42, was arrested at the scene. He was found in an intoxicated and incoherent state. He is the younger brother of the victim’s husband.

 

According to initial police interviews, the shooting followed a heated argument between Mr Asia and his elder brother. The dispute was reportedly sparked by Mr Asia’s anger that the victim had not prepared food for their elderly mother. During the quarrel, the brothers exchanged threats before Mr Asia returned to his nearby home, just 50 metres away, retrieved a shotgun and fired it toward his brother’s home. One of the shots struck Mrs Nitaya, who was standing on the stairs.

 

The victim’s husband, who witnessed the incident, said he had argued with his younger brother over the care of their mother, particularly about his wife not cooking for her. He said the row escalated rapidly, resulting in the fatal attack.

 

The suspect has confessed to the crime, police said. He is being held in custody at Khlong Lan Police Station. He faces charges of homicide and illegal possession of a firearm.

 

Mrs Nitaya’s body has been sent for further forensic examination at Sawanpracharak Hospital in Nakhon Sawan province.

Killing someone in Thailand seems to be the norm. Any reason that makes a confrontation can lead to someone dying in this country. Many Thais have been raised without the ability to control their emotions or actions or feeling for the right to live. Perhaps this is from lack of discipline as they were children. Lack of responsibility or concern for such actions. 

Whatever the cause is though. Life is cheap. 

Some of these home cooked alcohols can be deadly.

 

People need to stick to the soft alcohols like bottled beer and wine, for safety reasons.

And it's used successfully to get a lesser punishment.   Like oh you were drunk?  Then it wasn't really your fault.

Murders in Thailand are still lower than in "civilized" countries like the USA. Thais used to tell me that murders here were eith within the same family or between gangs. I have never heard of a drive-by here but admittedly, gangs do hit someone accidentally.
