This is a move in the right direction! Next step is to ban it completely. It only attracts scumbags from all over the world to Thailand.

I think there's another profession here that attracts many, many more of the type of people you are concerned about.

Oh I get it, you are trolling.

Not interested.

Goodbye.

Says the bloke who stated about Expats on this forum - quote ;-

"You forgot to mention how spiteful these idiots are.

Fancy getting bent out of shape just because people are enjoying themselves."

When I threw a little sarcasm at you for making that comment, you not only did not get it - but when told what it meant you run away screaming 'troll'. Now that is the literal definition of the Pot calling the Kettle black.  Maybe the term Stones and Glass Houses rings a bell mate. Thanks for the laugh.

If you're that easily upset, best to avoid bars

Full of dirty hookers, aggressive drunks and smelly smokers .......

Surprised you didn't leave wearing a free beer!

Easily upset?

I don't want to inhale marijuana smoke. No sane person who isn't smoking that stuff would want to either.

I tell you what next time i see you i'll just cough in your face, we will see how easily offended you are.

The marijuana laws have attracted Bendirom Magaluf types Brits, from council estates. Anything to stop them is welcome in my opinion.

Passive smoking is already covered by the law.

The government betrays the good, hard working people of Thailand once again. They made the mistake of trusting them, and invested billions. Whipsaw policy. Regressive lawmakers.

Why jump from one extreme to another. Some people wish to use it as a recreational drug, just as they do with cigarettes. Banning the substance is not the answer; it will only create pushers, jail more users, waste police time.

Why not make it less available:
1. restrict the number of outlets (say 2 in Pattaya, 4 in Bangkok, etc) by charging a huge licence fee, to the highest bidders. 2. charge a very high duty on the sale of the product.

Like cigarettes the product should not be flaunted to the sight if non-users and children.

whats with all this faux concern  about "the children"     All these vulnerable children in pattaya will see people drinking alcohol every day , do the poor souls not require shielding from that ? if not why not?

go on say it ,,, "its drugs innit":cheesy:

There are people campaigning in the UK to have cannabis classified as a class A drug. One of the main reasons being stated is that it induces psychosis in some users.

That happens, some people that use Cannabis are not suitable for using it,they should not use it,end off.

With any drug there is use and abuse, nobody forces you to use any of them.

No need to class it as a class A drug, many people enjoy using it.

To be fair, most weed users seem to claim that it does not promote violent or aggressive behavior and in fact the opposite calming and “spaced out” effect.

I think in most occupations such an effect would be viewed as demotivating

so because someone smokes you think they will smoke at work too?? do you think people that drink are drinking at work??  This is the stupidest post I've seen.

because the Thai government doesn't do things that are rational or sensible and the last 10 years have been the worst.

seriously....from all over the world???? Like it's only legal in Thailand!

Also, there was plenty of weed around Thailand prior to it being legal.

Go to Cambodia or Laos you wont have any issues finding weed there either.

It would seem that many non-users don't like the smell of it wafting around public places. It's a 'pungent' and not very pleasant smell. In the UK recently a colleague complained that he could smell it when his neighbours were smoking it (in their back garden).

(I'm not virulently anti-drugs, I've had a smoke a few times before, partly out of curiosity, quite pleasant).

Yes, and most importantly, "I can't stand the smell" passes off as less bigoted than "I can't stand people getting high".

The smell of weed is one plant-based smell among many. There are dozens of kitchen smells with far more potential to make many people retch than the smell of weed, ranging from garlic and durian to fermented fish sauce (I forgot the name, pla ra?). Not to mention the ubiquitous smell of drains in TH.

Having often grown my own in Europe in the past, I found that the smell of a living cannabis plant, whether in the growing or the flowering stage, was 9 times out of 10 considered mildly pleasant by people who didn't know what the plant was.

those people are called alcoholics just like someone that needs to smoke all the time is a drug addict.

Normal people dont go to work and drink or smoke.
