Biologics for psoriasis

Featured Replies

I would like to ask if any of you who suffer from psoriasis have started treatment with "biologics" and to know which ones are available in Thailand and the price. Thanks.

Scapho, Tremfya and Ilumya ard available here. Imported and prohibitively   expensive. Some people go to  India for this.

See this thread

When topical meds are insufficient, Thai doctors usually try older non biologic meds  first like methotrexate.

Thank you Sheryl. I should have done this before opening a new OP, but I found this thread where a user shares his experience. If the prices are actually those, I'd say it's doable.

Sheryl mentioned some already.

You might add Cosentyx and Stelara.

There are even more.

Ask your Doctor.

Psoriasis is easily cured by changing your diet. It is caused by eating a low fat diet. Biologics etc are not required.

A high fat keto diet will get rid of it.

In brief; Stop eating cereals, legumes and other starchy foods. Eat fruits, herbs, spices and cooked free range animal foods. Fats are NZ butter, palm, soy bean, sunflower, sesame, perilla oils. These are to be eaten with the cooked animal foods. If you are used to eating dairy, add NZ Mainland Vintage cheddar or other fermented free range cheeses, otherwise avoid dairy (not butter). Drinks fruit juices, mineral water, teas, coffees, chocolate, coconut milk, nut milks etc. Eat one meal a day and 50-70g fat.

Local free range animal foods... village pork, village chickens & eggs, rice field ducks & eggs, wild fresh water fishes. DO NOT eat beef. Now is the time to eat Tilapia from your local lake/river as they are very fat in the rainy season.

Anyone who has suffered from psoriasis knows this explanation is complete bunk. 🤣

Psoriasis is a common side-effect of beta-blocker medications.

As a life-long sufferer I can you tell it is NOT

Mine is hereditary........🤗

Probiotics, something with an abundant variety such as kefir

My $0.02 I tried these biologics for eczema - 50k baht a month but it was on medical insurance (NOT Thai) and while it seemed to work it could have cleared up by it self (I get "flare-ups").

I went to the dermatologist here who suggested UV treatment - 20 or 30 sessions at 700 baht a go. Again it got better but maybe again it just cleared up on its' own - but considerably cheaper

Most ailments are due to poor diet and lifestyle choices…good luck!

And then as someone pointed out are the ones you are born with - like psoriasis.

About 25 years back I bought a UVB wand, it still works. Thankfully my Ps. is in remission, I now just have scalp spot Ps., a patch I had on my scalp was removed by the wand working out my own schedule, not advised schedule, as that burned, my fair skin. It hasn't come back...🤗

I also found a cream on Lazada for my scalp, it stops itching and soreness and removes any scales, could now not be without it. It is called Sumifun Psoriasis cream. I pay about 20 bht a tube, but you have to search for it at that price, many on there selling it waaay higher..

The only downside with it, I shave my hair off to get the stuff well into the skin, twice a day...😊

Scapho (Cosentyx) is available amongst other biologics, probably cheapest at about 13,000b for a 300mg shot, which is the usual monthly maintenance dose. Mind the price at government hospitals is discounted from what you would pay the distributor directly - e.g., Scapho from Novartis.

If you want the full picture re biologics your best bet is to drop by the evening OD clinic at the Institute of Dermatology near Victory Monument and discuss with a doctor.

Absolutely, and it should be pointed out that some here lack reading comprehension skills.

Modifying diet and lifestyle can mitigate psoriasis symptoms, probiotics have shown to do just that.

Some real kooky "helpful" replies here 🙂

Absolutely are isn’t there.

Please stop bickering.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition.

SOME  sufferers find that certain foods trigger or worsen symptoms. Which foods exactly is highly individual and for some people diet has no effect at all.

Totally agree: for example I no have problem to eat cheese and drink any no kind of milk but tomatoes and capsicum are a big trigger for my pso.

Mine started on my scalp when I was about 15, just thought it was dandruff, nothing stopped it, then 30 years later it was everywhere, not mega serious but a pain, literally, I got the internal version too, Psoriatic Arthritis.

Then, when I moved to LOS, symptoms got better, one year latter no pain tablets, I even got back in the gym, just got back to thinking I had dandruff, but a bit more naughty than that, but with the cream I found it is manageable.

What every I ate or drank made no difference, soap and clothes/bedsheets washing powder type did....🤔

Transam, do you think it is possible that in 2025 a professional dermatologist would mistake a fungal infection for psoriasis?

No idea, but here is my funny story, funny looking back at it....🤭

Think it was 1994, my 'willie' got sore, couldn't figure out why, I was happily married, didn't fool around, so I was confused.

I bought all sorts of creams, nothing worked. Hmmmm, how did I 'catch' something.....😳

Looks like a visit to the G.U. unit at our main hospital, how embarrassing.

Before I saw the consultant, I had to have a load of tests done, including having this metal instrument stuck down my willie..........😱

Anyhooooo, got through all that then saw a nice lady consultant/doctor, at the end of it she said.

"Have you got any other sores on your body", "No" "Does any of your family have Psoriasis", I said "Yes, my dad and his mum, my grandmother", she said, "well, to me, or though it doesn't look like Psoriasis as we know it, it is Psoriasis".

She gave me 2 types of steroid cream, I think it was a month with one, then a month with the other.

She was right, but not that long after other patches turned up in the usual places, that came and went, also the Psoriatic Arthritis...........🤒

P.S. The worse of the Psoriasis for me went into recession at the same age as my dad's did, he lived till 88 with no sign of the pesky disease..🤗
