Thailand's Tourism Set for a Boost with Jurassic Film Release

TAT is really clueless. To think a movie that will be made mostly using AI of dinosaurs wil increase tourism simply because it displays some of Thailands landscape is ridiculous. I can see it now, Thousands of UK citizens rushing to buy tickets to Thailand after seeing the movie haha...

Also, I fail to see how the making of a movie increases local employment? Most of the crew for the movie was imported. And any work given to locals would have been temporary. Not a real job.

Why did you look in smallville when he was in Metropolis?

The only clueless person here is you. First of all the dinosaurs are not made with "AI". It is highly skilled CGI.

Second, the majority of the crew were Thai and it was a real boost. You clearly have no idea how the film industry works.

And of course movies like these have a tourism effect. White Lotus had a measured impact on tourism in Sicily, Hawaii and Samui. The Beach had a huge impact on tourism around Krabi and Maya Bay. Ever heard of Harry Potter and all the Harry Potter tours? Game of Thrones increased tourism by 400% in Dubrovnik. Does Lord of the Rings ring any bells? Massive increase in NZ tourism. Even naff movies like Kong: Skull Island had a knock on effect on tourism in places like Ha Long Bay.

Your ignorance is shocking.

Did it?  It was one of the most watched and best reviewed 'cable' series of the year!

In March, according to TAT "The series is anticipated to showcase Thailand’s cultural and visual identity, promote its soft power, and contribute to its economic recovery ... with the Tourism Authority of Thailand expecting a 20% rise in tourism."

"Thailand's foreign tourist arrivals from Jan 1 to June 22 fell 4.24% compared to the same period a year earlier, the Tourism and Sports Ministry said on Tuesday."

Of course I am clueless.. Making this movie will surely attract more tourist especially from China. There will be swarms of them coming to see the location. In fact, TAT should set up fake dinosaurs there to include in their attracting these tourists.. New Dino park sounds good.

On the other hand. I do not seriously think the tourism will increase or dispel the fears of travelling to thailand along with the other problems being a tourist here like overcharging, visas, safety to name a few.

Well TAT have Scraped all there barrels so why not try this one as a last ditch to resurrect there failing industry got Nowt to lose a TAT spokesman confirms.

Expect millions of additional tourists once they see the spectacular and pristine landscapes here. The rivers are as pure as the Scottish Highlands and the beaches rival the greatest beaches to be found in the South Pacific.

release of "Jurassic World: Rebirth," a major Hollywood film showcasing the nation’s stunning landscapes.

Will Thailand's dinosaur elite be on display?

It is "a major Hollywood film." No tariff played in the US.

Tariff applies on foreign films exported to the US.

Albeit, how is value determined for tariff as "most movies today are played electronically.

While film cameras are still used by some filmmakers, most films are now captured and distributed digitally, with theaters using digital projectors. Even when films are initially shot on film, they are often transferred to a digital format for editing and distribution," and get stored in drives.

So what is a film drive worth before movie is payed in the US?

My life will not be complete without another Jurasic park movie.....

Let me guess...folks will be in danger, screams, little girl trapped, hot babe female lead pretending to be a man, evil bad male billionaire running a big, bad corporation...blah, blah, blah.

Incorrect. His proposed hot air tax was intended for American movies shot or produced in foreign locations.

Everything should be shot in America and made using American locations, feature American food, American actors, American guns, flags and produced by unionised inefficient and expensive crews. USA! USA! USA!

(Yes, I know the unionisation is not as strong in all states, but it is in the states that anyone might want to shoot in)

Didn't they say exactly the same thing about White Lotus? And that turned out to be a damp squib.

Never heard of white lotus so had to google it.  I see it's on the Binge streaming service which I don't have

You're really trying to compare Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones to some random Jurassic Park movie? If this was the original jurassic park I would agree, but this rehash movie will do nothing to move the tourism needle. The Beach brought in huge tourists because the movie was almost made for it targeting 20 something backpackers, this jurassic park is targeting mostly children.

And Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter were not for children? And no adults go to watch Jurassic Park? Really??
