Agreed, banning books is dumb. Republicans are doing it all over the place.

Really.  Where?  Or just banning some books being available to children.  Not really the same as banning the books is it?

Ironically they're also promoting the "Books not Bans" initiative on the same homepage.

Is one shop choosing not to sell a few titles banning books? Imo far less harm done here than the book banning elsewhere.

I see no book banning.  Where?

I agree. Just put her books in the transphobic section. 🙂

Can you point to just one example of JK Rowling's transphobia. It doesn't count to say she believes biological sex is immutable.

So what, she offends a few people here and there, like it means anything.

Just say no to PC, snowflake and victim culture.

She's brilliant and just too big to be silenced or cancelled. Ricky Gervais is another, we need more people like that

You only have to Google it. But there's a nice summary here.

your link doesn't work try this one .

https://www.thecut.com/2025/06/heres-what-j-k-rowling-has-really-said-about-trans-people.html

as expected everything she has said is 100% true  eg...

" The author has time and time again declared that trans women are not women, but rather that they are men in dresses"  cant argue with her on that

" she shares the gender-essentialist view at its core: that womanhood is fixed, intrinsic, and anatomically determined."  and so do all right minded people because its a fact

" Rowling has claimed that young people who transition will “grow out of their dysphoria,” and that hormone replacement therapy is “a new kind of conversion therapy for young gay people"  many change their mind when they finally grow out of it so she's right again

I looked at this.Nothing in there to suggest  she draws a clear line between women and those that pretend to be.It's written from an extreme ideological perception (the comments are worth reading) but yet fails to pin down one convincing example of JKR's alleged transphobia.

I consider myself a liberal, but banning of books puts that store in the authoritarian section of the arena. Bad move, hypocritical and narrow minded,

A book seller has the right to sell whatever product they want to sell.  Plus, the book can be found on Amazon and delivered the next day.

I'm sure that just like me , she is "devastated"

Absolutely right, and I totally agree.  but if a shop dared to  refuse to stock a certain book because it was written by a trans author there would be hell to pay , a chanting mob would congregate outside the shop and it could well be burnt down.  That is the nature of these people

This is true.

They probaby figured that while virtue signalling, it would generate some free publicity for the store which it seems to have done.
