From the UK mate.

When I saw visa mentioned on the site, after I purchased the ticket this morning, I just panicked.

Off topic, I was purchasing the ticket for £542 but it changed to £679 with Gulf Air. I wasn't quick enough 😂 😡

Thanks mate, thought so as I'm only there for 3 hrs for transfer.

I was panicking as always.

You're just conx through, so as long as you stay in the airport, (secure areas), you're fine.

Thanks mate

Just to clarify, if you're a transit passenger, although you're physically on the ground in Bahrain airport, you stay "airside", or, in other words, you never actually go through Bahraini  Immigration to enter Bahrain.

Therefore, no visa required.

Hello mate, Thank you for reply,  I wasn't clear in my original post - I put another post on the forum last night.

The problem is that I'm travelling Bahrain and China on SELF TRANSFER - both airports  (rechecking my luggage / go through IMM).

I'm flying to Vientiane, crossing the border to Thailand.

I got denied at Survanabhumi Airport in 2023 /  long story.

I'm far to late to do the EVisa now, my only option is Visa on arrival - passport 6 months valid, onward flight, Funds and accommodation. I don't have any accommodation, will Cash be OK for funds?

It's going to tight at Bahrain, I'm only there for 3 hours, from 8pm -  my flight leaves at 11pm. First time I've flown for 2 years and First time for self transfer.  I'm feeling ever so anxious. Any advice ?

Thank you in advance.

Ahhh....as you say, your original post was unclear - i thought you were asking about a visa for Bahrain.

I can't offer you any advice for Bahrain except to say cross yer fingers and hope all is on time!

As for Thailand:

Are you a  a British PP holder? My comments are  based on that being the case If you're not, I just don't know the answers to your questions

If you haven't been for 2 years, and can show that you're leaving Thailand after a holiday , then you should get a Visa-Exempt entry of 60 days NOT a VOA.

So have an air ticket leaving Thailand within 60 days of arrival, if you can show the equivalent of 10,000 Baht that might help but that is rarely asked for (never in my case), look respectable and be polite to the IO.

Good Luck 😎

Hi mate,

I'm flying through BAHRAIN and China on the 9th, Visa on Arrivals are the only option now. I've only got 3 hours to do everything- I  hope all is on time as you said 😂 no delays.     (5 hrs in China)

Regarding Thailand, I'm a British PP holder, UK Citizen. I've lived in Thailand for 12 years until to 2023. I'm returning now.

I'll be eligible for 60 days Visa Exemption with an onward ticket / equivalent of 10K bhat.         I'm going to buy a ticket from a site.

I'm flying to Vientiane, Loa - meeting my wife there. Can I cross the border straightaway / VE instead going to the Embassy for a VISA and stay the night.

I need to a DTAC 3 days prior entering Thailand regardless / old TM6.

Future reference, when will I mention my address as I'll be staying in Surin for a night, then in Bangkok.

Thank you in advance, I do apologize for the numerous questions

I have no idea of the visa requirements for Bahrain and China. Many years ago Brits could enter Bahrain without a visa - when I worked in Saudi we used to go on "Rugby tours" for the weekend, but that was back in the 80s.

Border crossing - i don't know - sorry

TDAC - as you say.  (DTAC is a phone company 🙄)

When will you mention address? In my OPINION - NEVER! That might make them think you're something other than a tourist - just say you're going to Bangkok - that's what tourists do - Surin...not so often.

I suppose you could email a Bangkok hotel asking about reservations, or start one on a booking site, and print it to show the IO. However I think that's a bit overkill. Once they grant you entry, they'll have no idea what you do or where you go (assuming you obey the laws of course!)

It's still confusing. So flying from the UK but stopping in Bahrain and China, both as "self transfers", right?

Never mind Bahrain you're going to need a visa for China too. Have you got one?

And how much money did you save with the self transfer malarky? I can't imagine it would ever be worth the hassle and stress. Not judging or criticising, just curious.

British citizens can apply for a visa on arrival in Bahrain ... so far, so good

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/bahrain/entry-requirements

But there is no visa on arrival for Brits in China ...

I wish you the best of luck. Let us know how it goes.

Need to know your Chinese airport.  In many you can transit without visa as long as you can show your onward travel arrangements.  Biggest problem might be with airline at check-in in BAH.
