I'm sorry, kiddo. I really am. You have a good soul. And I hate giving good people bad news. Don't worry about it. As soon as you step outside that door you'll start feeling better. You'll remember you don't believe in any of this fate crap. You're in control of your own life. Remember? Here. Take a cookie. I promise, by the time you're done eating it, you'll feel right as rain.

She sounds like a good gold digger with a few hooks into guys. This guy has no idea whether he loves her or not. If he doesn't know a woman after 2 weeks I wonder what the hell he learnt being with her. Did he meet the parents? Did he study her body language and meet her friends? Seems clueless or trolling.

I was gonna say I have no idea but the op has replied saying he did all of those points. She sounds like she is becoming quite the gold digger over time with little compassion for the op. It's possible that she's been chatting to other Thais who have been bragging about what they get or hear others say they are getting from their farrang. Ultimately, I can only speculate, but either she's playing the long game, is being influenced, or getting greedy.

There is no bar.

Good one!  And strangely appropriate.

But maybe he thinks she's The One.

Gut says not sure. I also went to son's university graduation by the way.

Have you ever had a dream about finding a good Thai girl that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that money sucking-you-dry dream? How would you know the difference between your emptied out bank account in the dream world and the real world?

"running a budget should not be too difficult for her"

Almost spit out my coffee , thanks for the laugh.

You seem to know nothing about Lieland and girls there in gerenal.

Somebody recently told me about a Thai girl he thought was “the one.” I handed him a napkin and asked him to write down two words that best described her without letting me see. Then I told him I could guess exactly what he’d written. I gave him my guess, and when he turned the napkin over, sure enough, it was the same two words as always: “different” and “special.” I’ve had that conversation so many times that if I’d placed a one-dollar bet each time, I’d be rich by now.

I assume she understands the word no!

It would appear not ,Sounds like she never heard the word,  at least not from the mouth of the OP. This sort of behaviour develops over time with the amounts increasing as time goes on. It should have been nipped in the bud from day one, along with extensive use of the word "NO",,she would then be in no doubt what the word means,  However its safe to say its too late now

Congratulations , but what on earth has that got to do with anything?

The Mate Tricks

Don't, just don't give money to any Thai gal if you are not living with her in country. Period. End of statement.

I was asked if I had met her parents, studied her body language and met her friends. I said yes yes and yes. So what it has to do with anything is in that context.

Take it from someone who has been around the block with many Thai ladies spanning decades: The answer is "no, so sorry." And if she doesn't like it, I'd drop her like a bad habit. You're not her ATM.

You can easily find a lovely replacement. As one old Thailand hand told me some years ago: "beautiful Thai ladies are like tuk-tuks, they are everywhere."

The gf has a degree in Business Admin. I assume in a work context she must understand no. The business would soon go bankrupt if you said yes to everything.

Have you ever seen her degree ? The actual paperwork.

Does she have a job / regular income currently (or since you've known her)?

Yes I have. They are framed in her house. Next question? By the way I put my qualifications away after receiving them and only once in my entire life had any prospective employer asked to see them.

It’s hilarious watching everyone split hairs about her “background” like it actually matters. The giant elephant sitting right there is that she wants way too much cash. That alone puts her squarely with the usual parade of Thai girls who talk sweet but see your wallet as the prize. It’s like someone telling me “bro she’s hot” and I have to break it to them “yeah, but it's got the wrong plumbing mate”.

That is an issue. She is a licenced travel guide. She was working on and off up until I returned to the UK in April. Her family are in the process of selling farming land and she has been involved with that. Given she had three other sisters, one of whom sounds well connected and local to where the family lives it does pee me off that she is the one that commutes on a regular basis from BKK to KK to sort out the sale. Why the one in KK who has a string of condos and cars can't get off her arse and do something is beyond me. Her own history is that she had a Thai husband. Good job working in Singapore but he had a heart attack. She has been living off the disposal of assets. That is what I have been told.

Sounds good. I suggest sending her whatever funds she needs. She will be eternally grateful.

No, I don't think that she does understand no. Up until last month things were reasonable but given how much extra she asked for in June then I have put a stop.

Man up and say NO.
